Jane, this is my first time growing irises. My neighbour gave me some last year from his garden and I am now in love ---- with the flowers, not the neighbour! ...LOL...

When I was a kid on the prairies, irises used to be called "flags." Sometimes people still know what that means if they're old geezers like me.

It really is too bad, Cynthia. The blooming period is awfully short.
They are beautiful - irises always strike me as lush and tropical looking.
