Deserts receive an extremely low amount of precipitation, and cover about one fifth of the Earth’s atmosphere. This week’s photo theme is all about these arid regions.
There's a wee desert in Manitoba near the town of Carberry. It's fun to visit. No camels, but they have a horse-drawn wagon to cart you around the sand hills in. Beats walking.
Those are wonderful pictures. I've actually never been to a desert, but I'd love to see one someday. Wouldn't want to live there though. I love the color green. :-)
Believe it or not there is also a small dessert in the Yukon, which I have visited. Sadly just tlike the one in Manitoba there are no camels. Or amel. There would probably be room for camel not camels. Anyway lovely pictures!
Great pics. Can't help but think of 'SpaceBalls' when they are told to "comb the desert!" and they do so - literally!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha...more like 'goofballs'!
DeleteI've never been to a desert, but I like these photos. I always think it's got to be one of the toughest terrains to survive in.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely must be. Lack of water is a major factor.

ReplyDeleteThat sounds so cool. Looks like you westerners have some pretty nifty stuff out there!

ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Beth. I love the colour green too much to be without it!
DeleteBeen to some of the deserts in the states. That was enough for me. Very hot and dry... I love snow.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to our snow from here, WebDebris. I think I would like it, too, if I didn't have so much of it year round.

ReplyDeleteWell, I hope to see a desert at some point in my life. It would be a new experience, no doubt.
DeleteDespite the lack of rain and vegetation, they really are beautiful. Majestic and regal are the words that jump to mind! :)
ReplyDeleteThose are perfect words to describe a desert! They are quite beautiful...in their own unique way.
