DeleteOh I loved watching Archie Bunker, he was one of my favorites. Or maybe 'Meathead' was my favorite... ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved this show. It was very advanced for its time. And gutsy. It tackled issues like abortion, women's liberation, homosexuality, breast cancer, racism, the Vietnam war, bigotry, rape, miscarriage, menopause, etc, etc, that no other show wanted to touch; issues that were considered unsuitable for network television. And even though Archie was such a huge bigot, he was ridiculed regularly and made to look like an ignorant fool. I can imagine how much this upset people who were just like him in real life!
