Amazing Photorealism

When you take a look at the photos below, you will swear that they were the work of an extremely talented photographer.

Look even closer and you’ll still think they are.

But they’re not images captured by a photographer; they are, in fact, captured on a canvas using a paintbrush and some dollops of oil paint.

Here, look again...

No matter how many times you look, it’s hard to believe that they’re not captured by a camera.

This is the amazing work of Pedro Campos, an artist who specializes in photorealism, an art movement that attempts to depict everyday objects, the natural world and real-life human beings in the most hyper-realistic way possible, giving the viewer the impression that what they are looking at is nothing more than a typical photograph. Campos completes all his work by hand; there is no computer aid.

Amazing, isn’t it? Pop over to his website to see more of his work.

  2. Impressive! He certainly doesn't pick easy objects to paint either - they all require spectacular talent.

  3. Amazing! They all look like a photograph. The ones with reflections in the foreground are most impressive.

  5. Quite beautiful. This kind of work used to be called magic realism, but now that I think about it I don't think magic realism was about everyday objects.
