The Beautiful Black-Eyed Susan

All photos on this post from MorgueFile

One of my favourite flowers, and one of the most recognizable amongst gardeners, is the daisy-shaped black-eyed Susan. It’s simple yet attractive, it’s easy to grow, it’s a magnet for butterflies, which I adore, and the blooming period is long lasting.

Because my backyard can provide the essential full sun, I’m considering adding a few of these pretty plants to my garden next spring.

Black-Eyed Susans tolerate a wide range of detrimental conditions and grow quite well unattended. This works well for someone like me who prefers a garden with moderate to low maintenance requirements.

Any plant that demands very little of my limited free time is the plant for me.
