Today's Trivia - Coconuts Are More Fatal

I’ve always been under the impression that shark attacks happen quite often. But recently I learned that that’s not true. Shark attacks, apparently, are at the bottom of the list of potential dangers encountered in water recreation.

In fact, a coconut is more likely to prove fatal than a shark because coconuts kill more people every year – about 150 worldwide - than sharks do. The number of fatalities caused by falling coconuts is 15 times higher than the number of fatalities caused by encounters with sharks.

How’s that for a kick in the head? Er... bonk on the head...

It’s true; you really do learn something new every day.

Hey, watch out for those coconuts!

  3. Hehehe - my best friend was working on a story about people stranded on a tropical island, and looking for ways to kill them off - I kept calling, "Coconut! Coconut!"
