Marvelous Marigolds

I have become very fond of marigolds. They’re easy to grow, cheerful, reliable and colourful. They don’t care where you plant them, they don’t wilt and they can handle wet periods and dry periods equally well.

Their strong smell is offensive to a lot of folks – I’m not a big fan of it myself – but it’s very nostalgic for me; it brings back a lot of childhood memories.

These carefree annuals are not fussy, and they’re pretty much pest-free.

I don’t know how other gardeners feel about these lovely plants, but I do know that I will always have some growing in my garden. It’s a sure way to guarantee colourful blooms all summer long, and into the fall.
