Before And After – Center Of Yard

Last year, we carved out a brand new flower bed right smack in the middle of our backyard because you can’t have enough places to plant pretty flowers in. And today’s ‘Before and After’ post is all about that project.

In the beginning, there was nothing but green grass...(yawn)...

So we carved out a new flower bed to add some colour...

Mr. Robin supervised the project.

We added a border.

We put all the grubs we found in the soil in a container and gave them to Mr. Robin to thank him for his help with the project.

He was thrilled.

I added a funky birdbath and a couple of plants.

Mr. Robin continued to supervise.

Isn't he just so cute?

I planted some perennials.

And more perennials.

And still more perennials.

The plants grew...

And grew...

And grew...

Into a colourful garden...

A gorgeous garden…

That I can enjoy from right outside my kitchen window...

And that’s how the flower bed right smack in the middle of our backyard came to be. The nicest thing of all is that the perennials in that area will be much more attractive this year since they’ll be in their second year of growth. Last year they were planted as tiny little plants; this year they’ll be bigger, stronger, fuller and much more dazzling. I’m so looking forward to that.
