Flowers, Flowers Everywhere

The garden got off to a slower start this year because of a lame spring, but once it finally did, WHAM, off it went.

In a very short period, there has been an explosion of colour around my home. There are flowers popping up everywhere. I’ve snapped more photos in one week than I’ve done in the past six months. Whenever I’m outside, I’m like a kid in a candy store as I go from plant to plant snapping pictures, and oohing and aahing along the way.

Today, I’d like to share a few of the flowers with you...

Gazania! The perfect flower...

Euphorbia polychroma's neon yellow blooms...

Aren't these flowers spectacular?

Dicentra spectabilis ‘Alba’. Looks like a heart with wings...

The delicate flowers of the Anemone sylvestris.

Aquilegia 'McKana Hybrids' has gorgeous blooms. I am in love with columbines.

Aster alpinus Dark Beauty makes the most amazing purple flowers.

Aren't these just stunning?

My friend Joy brought me this lovely Rhododendron 'Roseum Elegans' last month because she didn’t have room for it in her garden. It’s starting to bloom and I am in awe. (Garden friends are the best!)

Simply amazing...

My next door neighbour gave me a whole bunch of iris bulbs last year, and their lovely blooms are gracing my garden. Not sure what type this is. Does anyone know?

I’ll be posting more of these types of pictures in the future. There are certainly enough of them. And I’ve no doubt, there’ll be oodles more to be taken.

  1. Stunning blooms - especially love the irises and rhododendrons :) I note that you have updated your banner with new pics - I really must learn how to do collages.

  2. That dicentra is spectacular. As are all of them, really!

  3. These stripey gazanias are my favourites. I'm not buying any more flowers, but if I did, I'd get some of those.

  4. Thanks, Jane. I've never grown irises or rhodos before, so it's something new - and fun! There are a lot of flowers up ahead, so I've no doubt I'll be updating my banner again and again.

Tatiana, I love that dicenra. I didn't get a chance to see it in bloom last year because I planted it after its blooming period, so it was a nice surprise this spring.

Aren't gazanias amazing, Ivynettle? They're gorgeous. I've never seen anything like it.
