Tune Time – Loves Me Like A Rock

This is a 1973 recording by American singer-songwriter Paul Simon. The background vocals are performed by a southern gospel group, The Dixie Hummingbirds, in case anyone was interested in knowing that. The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of October 6, 1973, and remained in the Top 40 for 14 weeks; it was certified a gold record by the RIAA. This is definitely one of my favourite Paul Simon tunes.

  1. What a blast from the past :) Great song. Paul's hairstyle is just so ridiculous by today's standards!

  2. I like that song, too, Martha. And I LOVE the Dixie Hummingbirds (thanks for mentioning them). They've been around forever. Being from the South, I grew up with gospel music---both white and black---and listening to it both gives me comfort and makes me want to clap my hands and say Amen. :-)

  3. Ha're right, Jane; Paul's hairstyle by today's standards is a little lame. I've got a few lame haircuts somewhere in my own early years...

Hiya, Beth! It's been much too long. I miss 'reading' you. I hope you post something soon on your blog. But mostly, I hope everything is okay with you and your family.
