Oh, The Weather Outside Is Frightful...

Okay, I’m exaggerating. It’s not that bad, but it’s not exactly beach weather, either. Yesterday, we had freezing rain, and the outdoors was transformed into one big skating rink. The icicles hanging off the trees were pretty to look at, but the slippery sidewalks and roads were not. I’ll take a nice snowfall over freezing rain anytime.

Today is a mixture of snow and rain, so it’s messy, messy, messy. And dark. And gloomy. You know what that calls for? It calls for a pick-me-upper to chase away the winter doldrums. What better way to do that than with the gummy bear song...

There...I feel better already...

I heard on the radio this morning that we are expecting to receive about 10 centimeters of snow, which is far more than we’ve received so far. It’s been unusually dry all season; we didn’t even have a white Christmas. So, we’re finally going to look like a Canadian city in the winter, snow and slush included. I just hope it doesn’t last too long, or get too cold. A little winter is okay, but not too much.

  1. I was wondering how you were making out!! I talked to my sister yesterday and she was saying she had just put out more seed for the birds - everything was so frozen over. I'm with you, give me snow anyday. I bet it's very pretty though. We should all have boots/shoes with cleats for this type of weather.

  2. Yes, winter finally arrived, but now it's been, it can leave again. That would be just fine with me.

  4. @Jane: Lots of snow today - finally. It took a long time to get here. It sure is pretty outside, and it will be until it all turns to slush!

@Crafty Gardener: Me too! I don't need much winter. The shorter the better.

@LaelShine: I know! I can't wait. Just a few more weeks and I'll be thinking about my garden again. There is hope ahead...
