Tune Time - I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing

If you were around in the 70s, there’s no doubt you are familiar with this pop song from ‘The New Seekers’ that originated as a jingle in the groundbreaking 1971 "Hilltop" television commercial for Coca-Cola. It is a positive message of hope and love that is sung by a multicultural collection of young people standing on top of a hill. The full-length song, which dropped references to Coca-Cola, became a hit record, reaching #1 in the U.K. and #7 in the United States.

So many years have passed and I still enjoy listening to it.

And here’s the Coca Cola version:

  1. I always did like that commercial. It's nice to hear it all these years later---thank you, Martha! I was thinking how swell it would be if such a hopeful, cheerful song could make it into the Top Ten these days. Sadly, probably not, but Lord knows we need it. Now more than ever.

  3. Great song and Coke was very smart to use it. It's their anthem. Loved the "Free Hugs."

  5. Oh, I loved that song. I really miss songs that were nice to listen to on commercials... and what about TV shows that had good music? Do you still know all the words to "Gilligan's Island" or "The Beverly Hillbillies"? I do! (Sad to say, it's true!)
