Do A Grouch A Favour Day

Now, doesn’t this beat all? Today is ‘Do A Grouch A Favour Day’.

What you’re supposed to do is look around for someone who is in a grouchy mood and then do them a favour that will – hopefully – turn their frown into a smile. The great thing about this holiday is that it’s easy to fulfill. You certainly don’t have to look far to find yourself an authentic grouch. There are oodles of them everywhere!

Choose a grouch candidate based on your uplifting abilities. If you’re a little shy, you might want to take on a temporary grouch; someone who’s typically a happy person but just having a bad day.

If you’re a little more outgoing but still slightly reserved, you can consider tackling an intermediate grouch. This type of grouch has a Jekyll and Hyde personality; they alternate between grouchiness and cheerfulness.

Are you really sociable and not afraid of being barked at? Then search for a chronic grouch. This is the type of person that dwells in grouchiness 24/7. Nothing ever pleases them; they spend their lives grumbling about one thing or another. Getting them to be cheerful will be quite a challenge, so good luck with that!

And if you’re a grouch exorcist, why not try your hand with Oscar the Grouch? No one’s been able to drive the grouchiness out of him. Yet. Maybe it’ll be you.

Although after you listen to this song, you might reconsider.

Oscar has the last word:

  1. How could I have missed this? "Something's wrong with everything, except the way I sing", I love it!
What movie is it from? I LOVE the Muppets and Jim Henson. Did you stay up late to watch "The Jimmy Dean Show" just to see Rowlf?
Now, if someone does me a favor today, I will wonder...

    1. I'm not sure which move it's from, but it's probably hilarious. I'll have to check it out. I don't remember staying up late for that show, but I know very well who Rowlf is, so perhaps I did and the memory has faded? Anyhow, I love Oscar the Grouch; he's the best!

  3. Love the Grouch Anthem -- the staging is very Patton-esque, LOL! I haven't heard it before either -- guess I'm falling behind in my Muppet Movie watching.

  5. I refuse to participate in this horrid holiday. Now if you don't mind, I am going to sit in the rain in the middle of my garbage heap and growl at everyone who walk's by. :) (muahahah)
