Jewels From Jane In My Mailbox!

Awhile back, Jane announced on her blog that she would be sending out a small token of thanks to the individuals who participated in her monthly caption contest. Guess who one of those participants was? That’s right, moi!

And today, her surprise arrived in my mailbox! I can’t tell you how happy I was. No matter how old I get, I never stop getting excited about receiving mail. No, not bills, silly. Fun mail! Catalogues, magazines, greeting cards, letters, books, surprises...it’s all good. I’m not entirely sure where this childhood enthusiasm comes from, but I suspect it may have started with the surprise package that the mailman delivered to me when I was four. Secretly, my mom saved a whole bunch of cereal box tops to send away for a doll and accessories. The doorbell rang one morning and there was the mailman with a big box – for me! I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled I was, but the fact that I still remember that day says it all! Yes, my mom was kind like that. I’ll have to write about that story some time.

Now, where was I?

Oh, yeah! I was telling you about the surprises from Jane in my mailbox. Here they are:

Aren’t they the sweetest? Not only am I a huge fan of National Geographic, but I’m also a big softie when it comes to animals, so these surprises really put a smile on my face.

Cool, huh?

Thank you, Jane, for adding a little sunshine to my day. And it’s kind of fitting how all this arrived on ‘Do A Grouch A Favour Day’. Not that I was grouchy or anything, but still.

Anyhow, so what are you still doing here? Head over to her cool bog, which is located here. Go already...

  2. That's a lovely surprise - I also get excited when mysterious parcels arrive. Usually, because I've forgotten what I ordered in the first place!
