What if Cats and Dogs Had Opposable Thumbs Day

What would happen if Fifi or Fido were able to use a can opener or open up the fridge? Or open doors? Or answer the phone? Or hack our computer systems while we sleep? Or an assortment of other things that they can’t do simply because they don’t have opposable thumbs.

Well, today is the day to imagine these scenarios and be grateful that the infinite wisdom of the universe has not allowed cats and dogs to ‘get a grip on things’.

I know that at least one of my cats would resort to this if I didn’t get up to feed her:

It's a good thing cats don't have opposable thumbs from Lisa Malachowsky on Vimeo.

Then again...with opposable thumbs she'd be able to feed herself...hmmm...

Of course, one can always look at the positive side of this...like finally putting those lazy-ass cats to work rather than them snoozing the day away. Oh, the chores I could delegate...vacuuming, laundry, window washing, toilet scrubbing, ironing...

  2. Ha, if my cat had opposable thumbs, she would be directed to the emptying of the litter-box, PRONTO!

  3. Ha! that video is the funniest thing! If my cat jumped on me like that I'd be crushed - he weighs over 20lbs! However as a precaution, I'll be removing the baseball bat from under the bed!

    1. Ha ha ha...that's funny, Sulky Kitten! I don't think he needs a bat. With that weight, all he has to do is jump on you.

    1. That's why it's best that these critters don't have opposable thumbs!
