Blog Award Time!

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around".

Happy October, everyone!

I was going to start with the...“I’m stunned that we’re into the tenth month of the year already”...or...“I don’t know how time passes so quickly”...or... “Where did the summer go?”...or some such whiny statement...yadda yadda yadda...

But I’m not. Because I really like the month of October. Particularly when the weather cooperates and it turns out to be a lovely autumn season. Which I’m counting on. Gotta take those nice fall photos, no?

And in addition to the gorgeous shades of nature during one of the most colourful and charming months of the year, October also means Thanksgiving (in Canada) and all the trimmings that go with it...yum yum; oodles of apples for apple pies and apple fritters and baked apples and apple, apple, apple recipes; and lots and lots of pumpkins to eat and decorate with. There are many, many, many more interesting and wonderful things about October, but I’m not going to list them today.

Why?

Because it’s blog award time!

This month I’d like to present the award to Francie, one of my absolute favourite bloggers who is the author of A North End Journal, one of my absolute favourite blogs. And she’s a fellow Canuck, to boot!

Francie’s blog is a smorgasbord of original and interesting and fun, fun, fun posts! She has a wonderful sense of humour and one heck of an imagination. You will love her cartoons featuring Butterbrains. And you will laugh out loud with Secnarf; one of my favourite characters lurking around her blog. Secnarf is, apparently, “the only candidate who looks like a cabinet minister.” You’ll understand what that means when you run across her in Francie’s blog. A blog that you must visit. Right now. So go on. Head over there right now. Go go go...

Congratulations, Francie!

And remember:

There are no hard and fast rules to the award. You don’t have to display it on your blog if you don’t want to. Or write anything about yourself. Just know that I think you have a 'totally funkalicious' blog, and I’m glad I stumbled across it. The award and a link to your blog will be featured on the right sidebar of my blog for the entire month of October, so others may get a chance to discover you and enjoy what you have to offer.

And to the rest of you, happy October! I hope you all have a great month ahead.

  2. Oh yes, Francie is a most worthy recipient of the Funkalicious Award! No one can create characters like she can! And I always learn so much from her take on Canadian history.

    Totally deserved.
