A Single Photograph

“How can we hold onto those fleeting moments in our lives? Hold onto the moments that otherwise evaporate into the forgotten past? Or moments that become faded and morphed into our own version of reality as they sit in the corners of our memories, losing their truth and shifting focus? The only way to hold onto these moments and share them for years to come, in all their beauty and truth and glorious imperfections, without losing accuracy is through a photograph.” - Rosanne Moreland –

Thank you for posing for my camera, little friend.

  1. Really like the quote Martha and that is exactly how I feel and why I've always liked to take pictures....to capture that moment in time.

Any bribery involved in getting Mr./Ms. Squirrel to cooperate? Great shot!

    1. There was bribery, but not from me. This photo was taken in one of the conservation areas near my home. People walk, hike and bike through there all the time, and feed the animals while they're there --- usually to take photos!

  2. Beautiful quote Martha. Little critter really did pose for you, didn't he?

  3. We don't have black squirrels in the West. The first time I ever saw one in Ontario I just about fell over. Couldn't believe my eyes! Well, that makes me sound like kind of a rube, but it's true.

    1. Well, you're certainly not alone in that. I'd never seen black squirrels until we moved here. I just about fell over the first time I saw one, too! Some of them even have rusty red/brownish-red tails! They are incredible!

  4. I admire your photographs. I am hopeless as a photographer, inevitably missing the shot by the time I get my camera out, switched on, set correctly, etc.

    1. Photography takes patience. I don't always have it, but sometimes I do!

  6. Beautiful picture, Martha, but I want you to know that as soon as she quit posing for you she headed straight to my bird feeder.
