“Love is not written on paper, for paper can be erased. Nor is it etched on stone,
for stone can be broken. But it is inscribed on a heart and there it shall remain forever.”

When he became too big to care for, Christian was reintroduced to the African wild by wildlife conservationist and author, George Adamson (best known through the movie Born Free).
One year after Adamson released the young lion to the wild, his former owners decided to go looking for him to see whether Christian would remember them. They were told that Christian was now the head of a pride and was unlikely to do so. They were wrong...
Not only did Christian remember the two men who raised him, but the two lionesses that were with him accepted them as well. And I have to say that every time I watch this video, I tell myself “This time...this is the time...I’m not going to cry...” But I always do.
Do animals have souls? I believe they do.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Oh that was just amazing to watch! Can't believe my own eyes - he was so affectionate to them - just like our own domestic kitties.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a sweet story. I love the way he hugs them with his paws. This story gets to me every time.
DeleteI've seen this video countless times. I always cry. It is amazing
ReplyDeleteI've seen it a few times, too, and it always makes me cry. So sweet!
DeleteIsn't this wonderful? I like to think they go and visit him regularly now.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what happened later on. There's a longer video of the story that I'd like to watch at some point. Such a wonderful story, indeed.
DeleteI've seen that heartwarming story
ReplyDeleteI have seen it many times, but it never gets old. I always enjoy it.
DeleteWe constantly underestimate animals. They seem to remember their friends, even if years have passed. I've often seen this behaviour with dogs.
ReplyDeleteWe do underestimate animals. I don't believe we know as much about them as we think we do.
DeleteI think that was my first break with the christian Church. Imagine them teaching that animals don't have souls. Anyway a lovely post, Martha!
ReplyDeleteI agree with that, Francie. I do believe that they have souls.
DeleteThis video gets me everytime. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMe, too. Straight to the heart!
DeleteMartha! What the heck are doing to me!? I saw this once before and it still turns me into a blubbering mess! It is so heartfelt and you can see Christians soul/energy in his excitement.
ReplyDeleteEvery living thing has a soul...just makes so much sense.
Now compose yourself Jim, it's Sophie's birthday for heavens sake!! lol
Hahaha...sorry, Jim! Well, I'm not really sorry to be honest, because at least it's a very happy story. So if you're a blubbering mess, it's a good kind of blubbering mess! I very much believe that every living thing has a soul.
DeleteHi Martha! I've seen this video before, and it always gets me! I don't think for a second that animals don't have souls. Thank you for letting me enjoy this again!
