But they’re very entertaining. And so darn cute.
And just like the rabbits, squirrels chew up some of the things that I grow. But it doesn’t bother me. There are a lot of plants in my garden, and I don’t mind losing some of them in exchange for the entertainment these furry and feathery visits bring about, not to mention the photographic opportunities that go with them. The garden just wouldn’t be the same without the animals dropping by.
So, if the rabbits and squirrels and chipmunks and birds and groundhogs chew a few leaves and munch on a few berries...well...so be it.

I want one as a pet!
ReplyDeleteAnd so does your cat!
DeleteHahaha! I just saw your Introverts Unite on the side of your blog. Perfect and I say let's do it. lol
ReplyDeleteYes, a club for us introverts! Wonder if anyone will show up? :)
DeleteOh! And I am a Blue, too. I did the true colours about 3 years ago and the instructor said I was the bluest Blue she had ever met. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would have thought of you as a blue without you even saying so. You certainly fit the profile!
DeleteI must try to cultivate your squirrel friendly attitude, but I have to say they are just too darn smart! I had to get rid of my squirrel proof bird feeder this winter. It took the little buggers (oops, I mean critters) 3 days to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteI don't even bother anymore with the squirrel-proof products. These troublemakers are just too smart for them. If there is a way to get to the food, they figure it out!
Deleteha! they are pure entertainment in my yard. We have one we've named "crazy Charlie" as he loves to run up the trunk of a tree and back flip off, your do a run up a tree in spirals around the trunk ... pure entertainment!
ReplyDeleteHahaha...I like that! "crazy Charlie" He sounds like fun!
DeleteOh, look at the magnificent tail on that one!
ReplyDeleteI know...it's so wonderfully fluffy!
DeleteThat first photo Martha is perfection! Well done!! Look at those colours!
ReplyDeleteI too welcome all the critters that appear here. They have a place in the whole scheme of things I feel. And what's a few flowers/plants anyhow?
That's it, Jim, what's the loss of a few flowers or plants in exchange for all that fun!
DeleteI love squirrels!! I see them on our college campus all the time :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they hang around in hopes that the students throw some goodies their way...the opportunistic buggers (the squirrels, not the students :)
DeleteI make an excellent squirrel pot pie.
ReplyDeleteAnd it tastes like chicken, right?
DeleteHaha...well, I don't think I feel quite as charitable towards the little rodents as you do, Martha, but I do enjoy watching them. Lately, they've been hogging (and befouling) the bird bath and now the birds won't use it, so I'm constantly trying to scare them off. But with all that aggravation, they still often make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on keeping them away, Beth, and have learned to live with them --- and enjoy them. I have put bowls of water around my yard, which helps to deter them from the bird bath. They prefer to drink from there instead of jumping on the bird bath. Not always, but enough times to make a difference.
DeleteWonderful photos of these furry little rascals. I have a soft spot for them myself!
ReplyDeleteBecause they have that cute face!
Deleteyeah they are cute to look at

DeleteWe all love watching the squirrels!
ReplyDeleteNature's acrobats!
DeleteI do love watching the squirrels in our yard. They remind me of children with a bottomless energy. They always lift my spirits.
ReplyDeleteHahaha...yes, that's a great way to describe them!
DeleteHow can one not love squirrels? I'm always trying to catch them in the park! I happily share our plants too!
ReplyDeleteThey sure are cute, and fun to watch. Aside from eating everything they can get their furry little paws on, they don't really bother me. And they do take nice photos!
