Chuckles and Chortles

We had a glorious weekend. Old and dear friends from Montreal visited with their two sons. This is their second trip to see us, but it had been awhile. The last one was back in 2009 when we first moved here, so you can imagine how excited we were to have them back. They arrived Friday afternoon, and even though they only stayed a couple of days, we managed to squeeze in a whole lotta fun. We spent time together with the kids, and time alone as couples. Saturday night the grownups went to a local pub where my husband (he plays guitar) was playing (his first public gig ever!) with the band he recently hooked up with. I introduced my Montreal pals to people we’ve met here in Kingston, and we had some drinks, shared some laughs and even got in some dancing.

It was a fabulous couple of days! Nothing like getting together with good friends.

Today, everyone is back in their homes and their routines, and it’s the start of a brand new week.

Let’s kick start it with some humour!

Always By His Side

A woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day. One day, when he came to, he motioned for her to come nearer. As she sat by him, he whispered, eyes full of tears, "You know what? You have been with me all through the bad times. When I got fired, you were there to support me. When my business failed, you were there. When I got shot, you were by my side. When we lost the house, you stayed right here. When my health started failing, you were still by my side. You know what?" "What dear?" she asked gently, smiling as her heart began to fill with warmth. ”I think you're bad luck."

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and I wish you all a terrific week ahead.

  8. Excellent LOLs! My fave is the one over on your sidebar -- if mosquitoes sucked fat, they'd be on the protected species list.

  11. So cool that your husband had his first gig---hope it's the first of many. It is indeed a wonderful thing to spend time with old and dear friends---they are the ones you can really be yourself with.

Catching up with your posts since I've been absent from the blogosphere. Your photos are better then ever, Martha. You have the eye of an artist.

    1. Beth! I am so happy to see you hear. I have been thinking about you a lot lately, especially when I'm out in the garden and the birds and bees are buzzing around. I always think "Beth would like this. I wonder how she's doing." Thank you for the compliment about my images. I am really enjoying this wonderful hobby.

I hope you and your loved ones are all doing well. And I hope you write a blog post one day to let us all know how things are. I certainly miss you.
