Inside My Introverted Brain

Let’s be honest. All of us at some point have run around the house in a cape pretending to be a superhero. During our childhood years. But even if you’re still doing this, that’s okay. Who am I to judge someone else’s fetishes?

And even though I don’t sport a cape anymore, I sometimes imagine having a superpower. There are a few that appeal to me, including the ability to read minds, speak to animals or fly, invisibility, telepathy and even mind control. But if I could only have one superpower, I would settle for time travel.

Oh, the eras I picture myself visiting. And the people I’d see on these journeys. Whenever I’d be in the mood for a ‘different' kind of adventure, I’d just – POOF - and end up in the dinosaur period. Or - POOF – suddenly find myself taking photos of some place 1,000 years from now (yes, I'd be able to take a camera along). This would give a whole new meaning to spontaneous road trips. Imagine how much more interesting my weekly 'Photo Dump' posts would be?

Of course, the invisibility superpower sure would come in handy during these travels. I don't think everyone would feel warm and fuzzy about my sudden - POOF - appearance...

What would your superpower be?

Have a super weekend!

  1. Let me see......at this stage in my life it would have to be the ability to make peace in the world and have people realize that peace is all that is necessary.
My second would be to have the ability to fly!!
    Good post Martha!

    1. That would take a SUPER super power, Jim. I'd love to see peace in the world, but I don't believe it will happen any time soon. I know...I know...I'm a cynic!

  3. I've always wanted to be Wonder Woman. I loved her invisible plane. and her bracelets? no harm could come to me. and her lasso of truth! ha!

I could just spin and be in this groovy outfit and able to save the world and have fun and all manner of Wonder Woman stuff.

She was my hero... Dale Evans was my first hero. she had a singing cowboy and Trigger. no super powers but she always had great adventures. I had a Dale Evans outfit! Buttermilk... wasn't that her horse's name? you're too young to remember such though ... Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and Gabby Hayes... were the bomb back in m'day.... ;)

    Happy Trails.... to you ...

    1. Witnessing historical events is what is so appealing to me about time travel. Of course, some of it would be horrible to witness, but that's part of the package.

  5. Time travel would be it for me too! And add nine lives like a cat so I'd have time to explore throughout time! Take care!

  7. I would want the superpower to be able to immediately bend people to my iron will . . . bwahahahahahahahaha [maniacal laughter]. Either that, or the ability to sleep on airplanes. That would come in handy too.

    1. Hahahaha...yes, being able to sleep on an airplane can certainly be considered a superpower!

  8. I wanted to fly really badly when I was about 6 or 7, around the time of 'The Flying Nun'! Or was in Mary Poppins? Thanks for the 'escape into fantasy' today Martha.

    1. We all need to escape into fantasy, now and then; makes life fun.

  9. I want to fly. That way I could go anywhere without it costing a ton and I could travel the world.

  10. Hahahaaa.. where do you find these things?? That middle one is the best -- I think my husband would like to pin them up on his board at work lol!! I like your superpower -- time travel. Though yours is more in terms of visiting other eras for the experience; my immediate thought was how I'd use it to go back in time and redo certain things -- like study harder! I guess there's no end to the types of powers I'd love to have, but the top two that come to mind are super vision and super-healing-indestructability -- like Wolverine!

    1. That second image had me laughing out loud! I love it. It's funny...but also true...LOL...

Although I'd love to time travel, I'd be afraid to make any changes, worried that I would affect the future world is some really negative way!

  11. I have often thought that I would like to have a subtle electric current that I could give to someone who is giving me a hard time. Not enough that they would even feel pain, just enough to make them uncomfortable and then they would go away and leave me alone. Ah well, I can dream!

  14. Hmmm, a super power, huh? It'd be cool to be able to spread universal warm fuzzies to make people smile and be kind to each other. It'd be cool to fly, too, so maybe I could fly... and sprinkle warm fuzzy powder as I fly by.
