Wow, so many of you?
Well now...
No, that’s not what this post is about. It’s about playground swinging. The kind you enjoyed as a child. And maybe some of you still do as adults.
I love swinging. Playground swinging, folks. Stay focused.
I don’t think anything can bring back childhood memories like a good old swing does. I spent many a days in the park with my brothers and the neighbourhood kids when I was a child. Lots of good times there.
That is the pure joy of playing on swings. There is only you, the wind and the sky.
Are you ever too old for that feeling?
i also love trampolines! If i had a garden i would put both in it
ReplyDeleteThat would be one happening garden!
DeleteIt's fun to do this and watch other people's reactions to an adult on the swings! As a child, I always pumped hard to see if I could as high as the bar that held the swings. Nothing beats swinging in an tire that is hung from a branch of a tree either. I used to feel so secure and "cocooned" as I sat inside the tire. Thanks for prodding my memories, Martha.
ReplyDeleteI think they're secretly jealous, Cathy, that some people can let loose and just have fun! I've never swung in a tire. I have no doubt that it's a blast!
DeleteI LOVED swinging on swings as a child! Now, it's been awhile...
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's time to give it a try!
DeleteI was the odd one I guess (I heard that!) as swinging always made me dizzy when I was a kid, so I stayed clear of them. Now teeder-totters were are different matter....I loved them!
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad, Jim! But there are so many other fun things to do at parks!
DeleteNEVER too old ~~~~ I jump on everytime I have the chance. I do remember falling off and getting zonked by a few though ~~ ouch!! Had too much fun on the swings, if you know what I mean!
ReplyDeleteWinks!
Ron
Good for you, Ron! No need to explain about the added fun...haha...
DeleteOnce a swinger, always a swinger!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha...yes, indeed...
DeleteSwings are still fun. Thanks for the great post.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed!
DeleteGoodness I haven't playground swung for a long long time. I miss it. I think you've inspired me to do it again soon :)
ReplyDeleteGo for it! You'll be glad you did.
DeleteAwesome. My husband and I went to a dance just a couple weeks ago and danced like we were teenagers. I had to stop and wonder, "Why don't we always live like this?"
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun; good for you! I love dancing and always go nuts on the dance floor. My husband? Not so much. He just watches me!
DeleteWhen I was a kid on the farm I had my own swing set and we had an old tire swing on a tree . Never to old I say to hop on the swings maybe a bit harder now then when we were younger but still a fun thing to do ! Cute post . Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
ReplyDeletePlaying on the swings is like riding a bicycle...you never quite forget how to do it! Things get a little harder as we get older, but as long as we can do them, I say go for it. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the day!
DeleteMy best friend and me still frequently end up on playgrounds, and on the swings. We both look young enough that people always mistake us for teenagers, but I have no intention of stopping even when we're long past that age!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! And yes, even when you stop looking like a teen, just do it!
DeleteHey! Not only did I love to swing but I liked the big slide too! We used to take WAX PAPER and sit on pieces of it and slide down the slide, and we would FLY down the slide on that paper, and it made it so very slick. The big slide that we played on was so huge, I went back later to see if it was as high as I remembered...it was 10 feet off the ground!!! Man, were we tough or what!!!
ReplyDeleteWax paper! What a great idea. I've never heard of that. I bet it made the ride down that slide quite exhilarating! Yes, we were quite tough back then. I wonder how any of us made it...haha...
DeleteYou are right I was expecting a video of elderly people doing marvelous dancing! ha ha. but I must say, I loved learning that there is a swing out there that misses me. I miss it too!
ReplyDeleteThere is most definitely a swing out there that misses you, Francie! You just have to go looking for it :)
DeleteYou're reminding me that I haven't been on a swing for a very long time. I get the picture...go out and try something new and have fun.
ReplyDeleteThat's what life is all about...trying new things and having fun!
DeleteI love to swing! I haven't in ages, though. But that feeling of flying through the air--such a free and happy feeling. Thanks for the reminder of good times for me, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's the feeling I get when I swing...carefree!
DeleteI was never a fan, especially with the cheap ones in our park
ReplyDeleteWe had some solid wooden ones in the parks I went to as a child. And the chains that held them up were very thick and strong!
DeleteI loved swinging as a child but now it just makes me dizzy!
ReplyDeleteAh, the joys of aging :)
DeleteNever met a public swing that \i didn't try lol
ReplyDeleteHahaha... And I bet they like you, too :)
DeleteEnjoy the simple things. So true.
ReplyDeleteAnd there are so many of them to be enjoyed!
Delete;)
