Awkward Holiday Moments

Yesterday, I spent the day with my daughter. Our first stop was at our family doctor for a follow-up visit, and to get my daughter’s blood test results. She’d been complaining about always feeling tired, and about occasionally getting very dizzy. It turns out that her iron levels are low. Multivitamins with iron, and some iron-rich foods should remedy the situation, our doctor said. It was such a relief knowing that there’s nothing seriously wrong. That’s always the biggest fear, isn’t it?

So after we were done there, and feeling happy, we decided to go do some Christmas shopping. It was madness everywhere. Traffic, mobs of people, and oh, the noise! Oh, the noise! Noise! Noise! Noise! I found myself sympathizing with the Grinch. Next year I will make sure to be done with all my holiday shopping by the beginning of December – at the latest – like I’ve always done.

Chaos aside, I had a great time with my daughter who is such good company with her wonderful sense of humour, and upbeat personality. She even treated me to supper, which was very sweet. I am so grateful for such blessings.

Anyway, I’ll end the week with a very funny video about awkward holiday moments that all of us have experienced at some point.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

  1. Glad you could spend some quality time with your daughter and hope she feels better soon. Nuthin' a good cheeseburger or big, juicy steak can't cure!

    1. I'm usually done by that time, too, but this year I've been dragging my feet. Next year, I won't make that mistake again.

  5. With late Christmas shopping, you always have to pick the time and place wisely to avoid the madness.

also funny video, especially the wife's gift. Makes you wonder how often that does happen. My fiancee Daisy would probably turn more red than her outfit even if she was at a bridal shower with friends of a similar age.

    1. It is very embarrassing! One Christmas, my mother actually presented me with something like that in front of the whole family. Needless to say that my husband was ecstatic about it!

  6. I'm glad your daughter's test result was something treatable. Hope she feels better soon! I went on my last shopping trip Wednesday night. It was crowded, but I just put my head down and got it done as quickly as possible. :-)

    1. I'm done with the shopping as of yesterday morning, which is great because winter has arrived and dumped lots of ice on us!

  7. I loved the first part when the siblings ate the food at the same time. But then felt bad when he called her a terrible cook. The scarf made me laugh as well. Good stuff. Happy weekend.

    1. That is really funny! I can actually see me and my brother doing that. But my mom is a pretty good cook, so that'll never happen!

  8. Getting a clean bill of health lends a special bonus to the Holidays, doesn't it? Getting to eat extra steak... priceless!

That video character's laugh is sure to haunt my nightmares now LOL

P.S. Martha, my beautiful "kitty" photo arrived in perfect condition a few minutes ago. SOOO gorgeous! My mailman even knocked at the door, because it was starting to snow and he didn't want it to get wet sitting in my mailbox (what a sweetie!) I can blast Canada Post with the best of them (they even returned a package from a friend in the US, saying my address was "incomplete"... it WASN'T), but our mail carriers have always gotten my support. They are the backbone, as far as I am concerned, so this latest attempt to "save" CP from itself, by the crazies running it, has me quite outraged. Any and all petitions your readers have goin' on can be sent my way!

    1. I am so happy to hear that the photo arrived safely, and thrilled that your mailman did that for you. I'm not surprised, because I have met some amazing mail carriers over the years. They work hard, and add a personal touch to the service. Once they are gone, the service will be technologically cold...like many other services that have gone that way!

We tried earlier today to get near two local malls....the traffic line-ups were unbelievable!! Will try again.
Good to hear that your daughter will be fine after her daily multi kicks in.
