My cats are very well behaved. I’ve never seen anything like it. They don't destroy anything by scratching or chewing or biting. They don't attempt to run out of the house to escape their strictly indoor status. They don’t climb screens or curtains. They don’t beg – or even harass us - for food when we’re eating. They don’t wake us up in the middle of the night or very early in the morning. They actually use their scratching post instead of our furniture. They wait patiently for me to wake up to feed them. And they don’t even bother with the Christmas tree and its ornaments.
What’s up with that? These cats are...well...boring. They don’t provide me with enough funny stories to share like the cats I’ve had before them did. Now those cats...some of them were really badass cats. The type that viral videos are made of.
My cats don’t even knock shit over like the ones in the funny video below. No, not even that.
Do you have cats? Do they misbehave?
That comic is hilarious!!!
ReplyDeleteBecause it's so true!
DeleteLOL your cats are everything mine are NOT!! Wanna trade??? :)
ReplyDeleteUm...let me see... Nope! LOL... I'm actually so grateful at how quiet they are!
DeleteGood cats you have!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! Best ones I've ever had.
DeleteNo . . . no . . . NO! And of course, the cat does it anyway, LOL! That video sums up the obedience of cats alright.
ReplyDelete'No' doesn't exist in the cat dictionary!
Deletelol... 'morning, Martha ...
ReplyDeleteI have never had a cat that begged... that's a pet peeve of mine when people encourage their pets to beg... part of a cat's nature is to demand ... I have one that will walk witihin my feet until I understand that his bowl of food is empty.
The other knows I don't hear well and jumps on whatever it I'm near ... gets in my face to MEOW ... she wants outside.
I really really hate it when they decide to jump up on stuff and whatever is there ... is no longer there ... and I really especially hate it when it's something I'm drinking.
I could go on .... you have mutant cats, Martha... not natural
I'm not a fan of that either, Carolyn. We have never offered food to the cats when we're eating, not even anywhere near the kitchen. In fact, they get fed very far away from the kitchen, and don't even associate that room with meals. In some ways they can be taught, and we tried to do that while they were very young.
DeleteHahaha...yes, they are mutant cats!
No No No!!!!
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA!!!
Which means Yes Yes Yes to a cat! Hahahhaa...the little stinkers :)
DeleteLOL! Our last, Rita, was much like yours Martha.....boring. She was SO good would never do what THESE just did!!
ReplyDeleteTime for another cat I think.....a 'bad' cat this time!!
Hahaha...a bad cat would certainly spice things up! Oh, poor Sophie...and what she'd have to put up with!
DeleteI don't know, Martha, you may want to thank your lucky stars for well behaved cats. lol This past year, as you know, ours have destroyed the first house I made for Kettle and all the fairy gardens that I brought indoors. They've ripped open the garbage and threw its contents all over the kitchen and dining room at least fifteen times (and that is after we've "cat-proofed" it) and left me "presents" because the contents made them sick. Brandon backed Pumpkin into a corner and hissed in his face and slapped him scaring him so badly that, well, Pumpkin lost a wee bit of bladder control. That was lovely. There have been countless hairballs, but really, you can't count that as behavior, can you? Knocked over lamps, books thrown off bookshelves, Christmas tree bulbs broken because they look like they should be rolled around and chased... and I could go on and on and on. Oh, sometimes I wish they'd take a week's vacation from the "NO! No! Bad kitty!" time and toss themselves on good kitty time.
ReplyDeleteOh, trust me, I do thank my lucky stars! I've had things destroyed in the past by other cats, and major messes to clean up, and none of it was really funny! I do prefer it this way. I know about your cat woes since I follow your blog, and believe me, I truly sympathize!
DeleteThat is one HILARIOUS post. My cat, Butterfingers, who passed away in 2010 used to love plastic bags from the supermarket. She would lick them. And she liked bleach. She also would actually flip out over olives and the juice they came in. I mean she would go nuts over this stuff. I spoke to my vet about it, he said there was nothing to worry about. The plastic she ate came out in her feces. She was weird in that manner. But as far as knocking things over? Not really. Funny as all get out post. Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that some cats love olives and their juice. That is how we trained ours to use the scratching post and stay away from furniture. We rubbed green olive juice up and down the scratching post and took the cat there. Once she was there mesmerized by that, we rubbed her front paws up and down the post. After several days of this, she began going on her own. She associated that post with scratching, and we've never had trouble with furniture.
DeleteThat is funny about your cat and her love for plastic bags! Sometimes they have strange and funny quirks like that! As long as they're harmless, it's very entertaining.
My two cats Guy and Dot misbehave occasionally. Dot will bolt out the back door usually when I am going back into the house, this explains why we got her at the shelter, she must have done this with a previous owner and then couldn't find her way home! Guy loves to scratch on our basement walls which are a horrible unfinished cedar siding. The previous owner thought that was a good idea, leftover house siding, just put it in the basement!! Guy loves it and would not scratch on a cat scratching post/pad to save his life. Otherwise they are pretty well behaved!! You are so lucky to have perfect pets!
ReplyDeleteThey do sound pretty well behaved, aside from minor misdemeanors! I bet you're pretty happy about that!
DeleteWhen the Ungrateful Bastard is upstairs we spend about 50% of that time telling him not to do things.
ReplyDeleteI want to know *why* cats knock stuff over.
I have 4 and I swear they do it to see what we will do LOL
DeleteI'd like to know that, too, Birdie! It's one of life's mysteries... :)
DeleteWe have four cats. Most of the time they behave. But sometimes. There was one time that they decided to have a pissing contest on Hubby's brand new recliner. They all wanted to.. ahem.. mark it as theirs, i guess. Lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds nasty! I've had cats in the past doing that. Not fun...not fun at all! LOL...
DeleteMartha, Martha, Martha, of course your cats knocking things over. It is just that they are putting it all back before you get up! A truly Canadian cat would even leave a little note of apology! :)
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOL
DeleteCould it be possible that they're that smart, Francie? And even that polite? Yes, yes it can be...if they're Canadian cats...LOL!
DeleteLOL funny video! You are lucky you have such behaved cats (although a little boring) less cleaning! Mine are always trying to push stuff down. Sweetie is always trying to hide the remotes and phones on me, sometimes I swear he pushes them on the floor than under the couch and chairs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laughs!!!!!!!
Alice
Yes, I feel that way...lucky they're so well behaved; it certainly makes my life easier!
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Alice.
cats don't take commands, but they make orders
ReplyDeleteThat's the cat's motto!
DeleteSuch a funny video! Chase Bird is a good boy. He didn't fool with the tree, either, though he was interested in ribbons. Sometimes he climbs up where he's not supposed to be. And if we eat, he thinks he needs to join us in the meal. Our Thunder Cat, who passed away almost 5 years ago, would show up in the funniest places: stretched across a drawer that had been left open, lying on the towels in the linen closet. You just never knew.
ReplyDeleteEach cat has its own personality, and some are just more 'energetic' than others. The ones I have now are the quietest and most behaved I've ever seen. I'm grateful for that even if it is a little boring at times!
DeleteWe have a well-behaved cat as well. However, he does meow to let us know that his water needs changing or that it is near time to have his measured dry food put in his bowl. He does like to curl up on my lap in the evenings. I really dislike pets that beg. Frodo does not get in my "space" when I'm eating but I think this is because when he tried as a kitten, I would push him off my lap and say "no". I only wish he was a little more friendly to people that come into the house. He growls, sometimes hisses, and then runs away and hides. But we love him anyway.
ReplyDeleteHe sounds sweet to me, Cathy. Maybe he feels closer and more loyal to certain individuals, and doesn't feel the need to pay attention to anyone else. And it's sweet that he's a lap cat! I really like that. Only one of my cats likes to jump on my lap and curl up, and I love when she does that.
DeleteI had a cat when I was a kid that acted more like a dog and listened, played fetch and loved to cuddle. If I told him to sit, he did. No biting, counters or any of that walking on the kitchen table where the food is, crap.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I am a dog person.
I love dogs, but I don't want the dog responsibilities. Maybe if I lived alone and didn't have so many others things to do, I'd get myself a dog.
