My husband is a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan. Do you know that comic strip? Do you like it? I don’t care for it as much as my hubby does (I prefer ‘The Far Side’ by Gary Larson; now there’s some craziness), but I love the Calvin and Hobbes hilarious snowman cartoons. Do you remember them? Here are a few:
They are very funny, but what’s even better is when people create silly snowmen in real life like the ones below:
Aren’t these cool? Have you ever done something like this? I haven’t. And speaking of snowmen, I still haven’t built one like I said I’d do this winter. I must get to it as soon as the temperature is a little better. We certainly have enough snow for it.
Calvin and Hobbes rock! And so do those snowmen!
ReplyDeleteCool snowmen, indeed!
DeleteLOVE Calvin and Hobbes... hated it when he retired the strip ... I have several cartoons saved... one especially with Fuzz Therapy ...
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Martha! ... it's a gorgeous day but COLD ... 16 degrees as I type ... I'm too old and southern for this nonsense... I tell ya! ;)
Hahaha...well, I've spent my whole life up here in the north, and I'm still not used to it, Carolyn. Hate these long, heavy winters...
DeleteOh my gosh how cool are those oh my heavens, your last one is the same at Stacy Little Magic Love Crow, she has some pretty awesome one too, you 2 rocks and are in synch and hilarious thank you thank you thank you
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed, Lorraine! We need to laugh while we try to get through this tough winter.
DeleteIt is tooooo coooooollllllddddd to go out and build a snowman. We usually build one or two every year ourselves. Of course, we have to be careful because of doggy bombs. Ick. Not good for snow people...or the people rolling the snow people.
ReplyDeleteMy son read Calvin and Hobbes out loud to me every single morning from the time he was five years old until he was seven and it's still his favorite comics. Mine too and my husband's. I can't wait to see the film, Dear Mr. Waterson. Have you heard of it? I think it will be very interesting.
I love these snowmen. They are great. I think Calvin made a scene involving a car and snowmen too, if I'm not mistaken.
Stay warm and keep happy! Blessings, Bird
That is really cool that your son did that! I haven't heard of that film. I'll have to check it out.
DeleteI'm waiting for the weather to be a little better before I get out there and build a snowman. It's been quite cold, and the only thing you'll get out there is frostbite!
Yeah, and that's no fun.
DeleteIt's not a great picture, but I loved this snowman:

That is cool! It's fun to see snowmen around your area.
DeleteI discovered C&H when the boys were small. Of course, I was always laughing at what WASN'T written out, whereas the boys loved the hilarious, adventurous C and the hapless straight man H.
ReplyDeleteI don't make snowmen, but I've been known to unleash the occasional snow angel, Martha :)
Oh, snow angels! Not that is fun :) I haven't done that in years.
DeleteThese are so funny! I love the snowman crossing zone, and the big snow cat. A few years ago I made a snow cat. My husband said it looked more like a snow squirrel. We still joke about it. :-)
ReplyDeleteHahaha...that is funny! But I bet it was a lot of fun!
DeleteThe 'snowman culture'! lol
ReplyDeleteHaven't made one in years.....bout time I'd say.
Today's snow isn't the right kind, so will have to wait.
Go for it, Jim!
DeleteHaha! Love the cat one!
ReplyDeleteYup, it's pretty cool!
Deletefunny snowmen!
ReplyDeleteSomething to tickle the funny bone!
DeleteI'm a HUGE Calvin fan. And often post their comics on my blog as well. Great stuff. Far Side is also killer. Can't go wrong with either.
ReplyDeleteYou're right; you can't go wrong with either one!
DeleteI think I have all of the Clavin and Hobbes books. Sometimes, even though I've read every cartoon a million times I read them again - and they still make me laugh! Love those 'real snow men. By the way have you seen that creepy car ad on tv with the evil snowmen? Eek!
ReplyDeleteIs that the Nissan commercial? I've seen that one. Who would think that snowmen could become so evil? There goes childhood...LOL...
Deletethose are great! and such imaginations with those snowmen, ahem ... snowcat
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a Calvin and Hobbs, and so are my daughters ... but I still love Farside
Far Side is the best! Such craziness!
DeleteCalvin and Hobbes just crack me up... I seen all of the one you insert, but, it doesn't matter, I was still LOL!
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine having a kid like that in real life? Imagine all the stories you'd have to tell!
DeleteLol. I like the folks who created the snow men. The photographs gave me a good laugh. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
DeleteAll such cool, fun snowmen! :) I like the snowcat best!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed, Mary!
DeleteI've never followed comic strips that closely, but I also like Farside better than Calvin and Hobbes.
ReplyDeleteI'm really impressed with the gambling snow-people. (They look like men, but I can't be sure.) One or two of them appear to be bluffing. Very fun.
You always make me smile.
Thank you, Martha.
xoRobyn
Hahaha...yes, a few may just be bluffing! You have a great imagination, Robyn :)
DeleteI enjoy Calvin and Hobbes. Funny, funny toon. Nope. Haven't built (or at least attempted to build) me a snowman since the age of 12. Those are really cool snowmen and snowcat. Groovey post. Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed! We can always use a smile :)
