Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, bloggers. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Can you believe that it’s the last day of March? Because I can’t. I woke up to this yesterday morning:

Yes, it snowed. Again. In spring. We’ve had snow since November. Since before winter began. And as much as I love having four seasons, I don’t think one season should hog up so much time. Winter’s time has come and gone. It. Has. To. Leave. And make room for flowers. And grass. And warm days. And colour. Much-needed colour.

Now look at this photo:

You know what’s in front of the basement window? Bulbs. Tulip and daffodil bulbs that have been trying to grow since mid March. And every time they poke their little heads out a little bit more, trusting that winter is finally over - WHAM – they get clobbered by more snow.

Now, what I’d really like to know is who is responsible for this? Which one of you has been praying for more snow? Don’t make me come there...

Well, we might as well keep a sense of humour going, so let’s start the week – and end the month - with some silliness...

Have a great day, everyone.

    1. I think it'll come, Lorraine. We've had a couple of really good days, and I think we're on our way to even better ones. Winter can't hang around forever. It's time is over!

  2. Happy Monday, Martha.

On Friday night we heard our first peeper of the season. But just one. The rest were still asleep. Saturday we woke to sunshine spring, which turned to rain, then mud and by the evening, full-blown winter winds and snow.

    What a whack-a-do day.

PS: There's a show where people talk about being cheap and believe it or not, some of them don't use/buy crapper paper. One lady used newspapers, the other rags and the third I won't mention because no one needs to read about THAT this early in the morning.

    Anyway, cheers and boogie boogie.

    1. Wow, no crapper paper! I could not imagine such a thing. If you ask me, it's one of the greatest inventions :)

The weather is like a roller coaster here, too. Yesterday and today have been really nice, although looking outside my window this afternoon, it's now cloudy and depressing; the sunshine left. But most of the snow is gone, the temperature is higher and my bulbs are starting to grow in areas that really a lot of sunlight. I spent the morning outside in the crisp air cleaning up a bit, and listening to the birds. It was fabulous!

    2. That sounds like a fabulous morning, for sure.

Today, Tuesday, we started cloudy but now, nearly 5pm it is bright and warm outside. Really really pretty. Makes me want to work outside.

    1. I'll take whatever sunshine I can get! There wasn't much of it all winter. It's enough to drive you batty. Thank goodness winter is almost completely gone!

    Life lesson # 27

Two shots of vodka may make you go swimming au natural… who need a swimwear!

You'll see, soon they'll grow so fast, the bulbs!

  6. Welcome to the club. I think everybody has had lots of spring snow. You tulips and daffodils are very hardy and will survive snow and cold.

    1. Those bulbs are amazingly hardy. They poke their heads out, and even if it's snowing or freezing cold, they survive!

  7. Love all the funnies! Sorry about more snow......It's probably all of us skiers in Oregon doing our snow dances. We've had a low snow year in our mountains. The snow didn't ask for directions, missed our state entirely, and hit yours instead. ....sorry...

  10. The world has gone crazy, Martha... here in the Maritimes, everyone is whining because the ski hills have closed at the usual date, despite having the "best" snow conditions of the season :(

Can't pick a fave today, they're all quite hilarious :)

    1. That is funny, Monique! There has certainly been more than enough snow this year, and the winter sports lovers had a great season. Now it's time for us gardeners, and spring and summer lovers to have our time!

  11. What an excellent and very entertaining post. I really liked the bear humor. I agree with you about the snow. I feel your pain. But ain't nuttin we can do but wait it out. Unless you have two tickets to Aruba - one for you and one for me - LOL! I hope that put a smile on your face cuz it did mine. Cheers!!

    1. Hahahaha...yes, that certainly put a smile on my face! And Aruba is a dream vacation for me. It's way too expensive, and I'll probably never see it (unless the lottery number come in), but I can certainly dream.

aw the daffodil bulbs… well? they are hearty … WHAT A WINTER…. and it as indeed a hoggy ol thing … as you know … terrible here in the south! not good

...love the cat hat… hahaaaa look at those eyes ~ are you done now?

Yes… I think I'll put in my request to come back as a bear. I like that. ~ It's afternoon and I've been totally worthless today .. guess I'll feel guilty for a bit then have some ice cream as a reward for feeling guilty … that'll work

    2. I remembered when I was making dinner that I didn't answer your first question about the building. Can you believe that? You people are on my mind throughout the day! Hahahaha...

It's an apartment building. It wasn't there when we moved here five years ago, and we didn't expect that. It was an open view; quite pretty. Then WHAM, up goes this building. Oh well, it could have been worse...taller!

Hahaha...yes, enough with the snow already. We had our fair share. Now it's time to move into spring, and all the wonderful things it has to offer.
