Happy Monday, bloggers. Did you all have a nice weekend? My fellow Canadians and I are enjoying the day off today, as well, although it won’t be much of a day off for me. I’ve actually been very busy since Friday when I started painting the doors in our house. The previous owners of this home had installed new doors that were primed, but they never painted them. And almost five years of us living here passed and they still weren't painted. How shameful is that? So I finally got off my behind on Friday and gave quite a few of them a couple of coats of white paint. There are still more to finish, and I will slowly but surely get to all of them. In addition to the doors, I am preparing to paint two bathroom cabinets (much cheaper than replacing them), a small table console, and the trim in the basement, which I never finished after I painted the basement in the fall (disgraceful). And let’s not forget all the gardening waiting for me...
So yup, I’d say I’m rather busy right now. But all these things need to get done. And because they will take up quite a bit of time, my blogging may be sporadic. And some days I will probably not be around at all. I’ll blog when I can, and visit when possible. That’s all I can do.
For now, what I can do is start this week off with some humour...
Have a beautiful day, everyone!
lol ahahhhahaha you had me laughing out loud oops woke the cats up oh so funny I love starting Monday with funnies and what holiday are you taking about ? mind you i don't know a Tuesday from a Sunday to me each day is the same...
ReplyDeletehey take it easy do what you need to do...I can't believe there were ever a time I didn't know you but there were so I'm just going to catch up while you're busy and laugh my heart out, good for the soul thank you sweetie and box of diapers I mean really it looks suspicious to me, maybe it's not for babies but for incontinence , maybe that's the look lol Have a great time fixing your place , take your time, put on the radio to your favourite station sing along and fix up the place...
Thanks, Lorraine. Perhaps one day we'll meet in person!
DeleteI've been playing my music, and painting away. It's been very busy, but I'm glad to see my projects getting done...one brushstroke at a time!
Have a fun time painting Martha. I actually love painting. Haven't done it in a while though since I am a renter and my landlords paint the places themselves. I am looking forward to having a painting party for some friends in Germany though when I move there. Have a great week. Love the "cat tree" :)
ReplyDeleteA paint party sounds like a lot of fun! That will be fun to read about...I hope you share the stories on your blog.
DeleteI don't mind painting at all. It's the preparation and cleanup that I don't like.
U R embarrassing me into painting submission or basement clean up, aren't U!!
ReplyDeleteLove your jokes today!!
Squeezing the Charmin lol!!
That's my mission...shaming people into renovating their homes, one blogger at a time :)
DeleteIs it working?
Queen Victoria would approve of your industriousness on her long weekend! Love the cat tracks on the old book. But my fave is your sidebar cartoon of Moses and the 10 condiments, LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet she'd approve...(I'd add more, but I'm not sure if there are any here that love the monarchy)
DeleteThose cats have been causing trouble since the beginning of time :)
Very cool on painting the door. If I have leftover Lemon Tart, I'm using it for our front door.
ReplyDeleteI'm now done with one gallon of paint. Soon to crack open number two.
Sounds like you're having fun and keeping busy with excellent projects.
I want to do our kitchen cabinets. Cheaper than buying new ones.
Yup, painting definitely is way cheaper. And it's amazing how something can be transformed dramatically with a simple coat of paint. I like painting. I just don't like preparing and cleaning up.
DeleteWhat don't you enjoy about the prep work? See, having been prep cook, for me, I like all that little repetitive stuff. Yes, cheaper. Though we might have to call someone for a hole in the Lemon Tart Room's ceiling.
DeleteUgh.
I think I'm just impatient to get started. Removing hinges and doorknobs and light plates, etc, etc, and lining up painter's tape, and priming, and on and on...it takes so much time. I enjoy painting, and I'm always impatient to get started. It's exciting when that first coat goes on and you see the colour you chose coming to life!
DeleteOooof...I hope that ceiling job isn't too bad. Hopefully it isn't too expensive!
Thanks for another Monday laugh. The cat tree is a great photo.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!
Deletegreat ones, I liked the 3 pigs one the most
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one!
DeleteThanks for providing some laughs! Good luck on your painting project.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a pleasure making you all laugh!
DeleteI love these. My fav this week is the cat in full bloom...hahaha
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed! And I hope your week is going well.
DeleteHappy painting - are you leaving the doors white? Actually it is cool so a good time for painting. The cartoons are really funny loved the boxes and cat paw prints!
ReplyDeleteYes, the doors will remain white. They'll match the trim, which is also white. And you are so right, Francie. It's the perfect time to paint while the weather is slightly cool.
DeleteOh great, it's a substitute.
ReplyDeleteThose eggs are so funny.
Glad you enjoyed, Kay! Nice to see you here :)
DeleteI know the painting stuff. I'm doing part of my fence this summer. Sometimes a whole lot of things show up at one time and we have to set priorities.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly do, Red. We have a lot of projects lined up, and we're tackling them one at a time. My husband is repairing our fence because part of it collapsed in the fall. Painting is very easy, so I'm doing it myself while he does other things.
Deleteoh we are off next Monday. Minions of darkness???? just too cute!
ReplyDeleteNice to see you here, Ana!
DeleteMy Monday is almost over and it's good to end it with your funnies, Martha.
ReplyDeleteI did some painting over the weekend, too, painted my bedroom a lovely shade of yellow, it's so soothing.
See you around, happy painting.
Looks like a lot of people are painting away! Spring fever makes us want to take on projects like this. I bet your bedroom is really gorgeous with such a pretty colour.
DeleteLOL! Sermons have always been the best 'sleeping pill'!!
ReplyDeleteNow go get those doors done!!
Yes, they can just knock you out, Jim :)
DeleteOkay, okay...I'll go paint the doors...sheesh... :)
What fun to have a project! and blogging should be fun not a required chore … ! I blog and read when I blog and read … HAhaaaa cat tree in full bloom .. HAhaaaaaa
ReplyDeletethose boxes are spookay! good morning, Martha!
Yup, blogging is supposed to be fun. I've lined up some projects around the house and need to be off the computer to get them done. So blogging will just have to happen whenever it can happen.
DeleteFunny, funny, funny! I especially love the Three Little Pigs cartoon. Weekend was fantastic. It seems a lot of people are painting these days. I was looking at a book "Salvage Sisters" and one project was about painting the rim around a mirror. Seems like a good project for me. Have a great time painting. Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteYou can paint just about anything and make it look like brand new. Mirrors, picture frames, door knobs, kitchen cabinets, entire rooms...you name it. And much cheaper than replacing. I really like painting. I just don't like preparing for it, and cleaning up after I'm done!
DeleteI just read about a paint that costs $61. Is that possible? I can't remember brand name - could have been R. Lauren. But I said to myself won't nothing get painted if I got to pay that much for paint. LOL! Cheers!!
DeleteYes, I believe it. I went to the hardware store a couple of times this past week, and I was shocked at some of the prices! That's not the type of paint I buy. WAY out of our budget!
DeleteP. S. I also enjoyed the boxes. Spooky, eh? Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's what I thought. Creepy boxes...
DeleteCat tree in full bloom HAS to be my favorite! Lol.
ReplyDeleteYou are busy for sure, but it will all look so fabulous when you're done! :)
I'm crazy busy, Mary, but I'm so far ahead! And everything looks so much better, so it's worth this time and effort.
DeleteOh you've got some good ones today! Love those fluffy jellybeans! Hope you get all your projects done, but remember to enjoy our (finally) nice weather!
ReplyDeleteOh, I intend to take advantage of that nice weather! Next week, I will declare it gardening week, and get out there as long as the weather permits!
