Over the decades, many words have defined my life. Words like carefree, hopeful, puzzling, demanding, evolving, painful, surprising, hectic, dynamic, transitioning, joyful, educational, frustrating, enlightening, challenging, untroubled, rewarding, disappointing, focused, passionate and pleasant. Just to name a few.
And like many individuals, as the path of my life’s journey changed, so did the words used to describe it.
If I had to choose one word to describe my life at the present time, it would have to be tranquil.
‘Tranquil’ is not an action-packed word, and in my youthful years I would have considered that type of existence monotonous and uninspiring.
But the years went by, my experiences were many and varied, some ups and downs were encountered along the way, and being in a tranquil state is now considered a blessing.
I don’t know where I’ll be in a year, or even in a month, but for now, I’m perfectly content to have my life defined by the monotonous word ‘tranquil’.
What single word describes your life right now?
Very interesting post! What an incredible topic you have chosen. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteTranquility may be a monotonous one for some, but definitely not for me. A single word that describes my life right now would be "curious". I guess. I am curious, searching and yeah realizing as well!
That's a great word, Chirasree. Being curious is a great thing. I've always been that way my whole life, which keeps this life interesting and fascination. There is always something new to learn and discover.
DeleteI love your photos so much Martha, and personally i like you, you are a beautiful, engaging, non-judgmental, kind human being (with I know the most wonderful husband in the world) and I'm happy for you, but darn it you ask the hardest questions, and I don't lie, and I don't want to say, so I'll go with: Hanging On...oops two words lol
ReplyDeleteAs long as you are 'hanging on', Lorraine. Sometimes that's all we can do. And I hope that 'hanging on' evolves into whatever it is you are searching for to make you ridiculously happy!
DeleteMy life word at the moment: "upheaval." But that's not a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that, Debra. Depending on what's going on in our life, sometimes upheaval is exactly what we need.
DeleteI think "tranquil" is a wonderful state to be in. It's a state of contentment. And we all wish to be content. If I had to describe my life in one word at the moment, I think I would choose "thankful" :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thing to be 'thankful'. I can certainly understand you choosing that word at this point in your life. Wonderful things are going on and 'thankful' is perfectly fitting!
DeleteNice photos. I have no idea how to describe my life right now - so many words come to mind! Depends upon how I'm feeling at the moment.
ReplyDeleteSometimes one word is not enough, or the words just change as the days and weeks go on. It all depends on what's going on. We are constantly shifting.
DeleteI'd go with "unanticipated," for life overall.
ReplyDeleteDon't think I could choose one for life right now in 2014 until about 2018; I never know what's going on until it's already over.
That's a great word, which would certainly be fitting for most of us. 2014 to 2018? That's a long stretch. Anything BIG happening?
DeleteYes, but not in a good way.
DeleteOh...sorry to hear that!
DeleteHow lucky are you!
ReplyDeleteMany words come to mind...tranquil is NOT one that would describe my life....
I am going with FULL for now...
Great photos by the way....you sure are good at that!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
FULL can be a great word, Linda, particularly if it's followed by HOUSE. A full house is a wonderful thing.
DeleteI would be even more tranquil if I lived in that house in the last picture.... wow.... in my world... it's grateful. yep
ReplyDeleteAh, grateful...oh yes! You are surrounded by the love of kids and grandchildren...some much to be grateful for there!
DeleteI aim for tranquil myself! Right now it always seems a bit hectic.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know those hectic periods, and I imagine they'll return to my life, but right now, I will cherish as much of a tranquil period as I can!
DeleteTranquil is a good word.
ReplyDeleteI just pulled chicken off the grill thinking Frankenberry would be home by
now but he's stuck with a tad more paper work. And we just found out
that the van will cost about 500 to fix. So I'm not gonna go with tranquil
for today. But I will say, thankful. If I had one word, right now, I'd pick
thankful. Because even with the stuff we deal with, there's nobody else
I'd rather share it with than Tim.
"...there's nobody else I'd rather share it with than Tim" Oh my gosh, I love that! Yes, that's the best. No matter what's going on, if we're going through it with that special someone, it's something to be thankful for!
DeleteLove your photos. That river looks tranquil and peaceful. Our rivers are flooding just now covering large areas. Don't think there is a single work to describe my life.
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Yes, it is very tranquil and peaceful; fantastic for photo-taking. We had some flooding around here when the snow began to melt. Things are much better now.
DeleteAmei conhecer o seu blog, já fiquei por aqui!!!Achei maravilhoso!!!Visite-me:http://algodaotaodoce.blogspot.com.br/
ReplyDeleteSiga-me e pegue o meu selinho!!!
Obrigada.
Beijos Marie.
I actually had to translate your text to understand it, and now that I know what you wrote, thank you :) I will visit your blog!
DeleteYou ask some hard questions. I'm a random chaotic! I'd find it hard to come up with one word.
ReplyDeleteOne word is probably just not enough! It's hard to narrow it down to a single word.
DeleteTranquility is very good, Martha. I am sure it will always stay with you.
ReplyDeleteThe word that best describes me right now is 'peaceful'.
I always strive to keep my world tranquil, Jim. Peaceful is another great word, which is similar.
DeleteTranquility is a blessing. Today, I'll call my life "manageable".
ReplyDeleteAs long as it's "manageable", Robyn, you're doing okay!
DeleteI love the word tranquil and all it stands for. Being tranquil and content is indeed a blessing. My word for my life right now? Probably "questioning."
ReplyDeleteHmmm..."questioning"... Perhaps you are searching for answers?
DeleteYou are having a good life style. My life style today is busy work!
ReplyDeletePerhaps over the weekend it'll be 'relaxing' :)
DeleteThose pictures are so wonderful. That's a place I'd love being in right now - to relax and unwind and soak in the peace and quiet. I think tranquil is a wonderful word because to me it means you have time to enjoy the here and now when everything tends to be so stressful. The one word that would describe my life right now is crazy - but in a good way :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I can imagine just how crazy things are for you right now, and under the right circumstances, as it is for you right now, it's a great word!
DeleteOh my goodness these are breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Francie. Mother Nature just takes my breath away, I tell you!
DeleteSuch a beautiful pictures and words... I love river and lakes because they look peaceful and relaxing...Maybe I need it....
ReplyDeleteThank you, Viera. I like them, too, for those reasons. I feel a sense of calm when I'm near water.
