Question Of The Day

If you could travel back in time where would you go?

This is such a tough one to answer because there are so many eras I’d love to travel back in time to see. And if you ask me this question tomorrow, I’m sure I’ll have a totally different answer.

But today, I’d choose to visit Ancient Greece to explore the culture first hand, and to meet some philosophers and scientists of the time. Maybe even run across an ancestor or two.

What about you?

    1. Though maybe not my number one choice, I'd like to visit ancient Greece too. Mainly to tell them that fire, water, earth, and air aren't elements. Then watch Plato lose his marbles.

    2. Hahaha...that is funny! I'd join you just to see that reaction from Plato!

  2. You're much more ambitious than me! My first thought was I'd like to travel back in time to when I was a little girl and run up and down the back stairs again at my grandparents' small old prairie hotel. I want to smell the hot crisp scent of the hotel sheets as my Mom would run them through the electric mangle to iron them. I want to pee in the hotel's bright pepto-bismol pink public women's bathroom.

In many ways, it was a magical place for a kid! I should blog about it some time.

    1. Oh, this is great, Debra! I can visualize all this just from your writing. You SHOULD blog about this some time. I'd love to read more about it.

  3. I have always been drawn to the middle ages... Europe in the middle ages, not in the towns or cities though, too stinky and full of quick death by simple infection. Lives were not worth much then... I'd be a hermit-type in the woods or a simple peasant. :)

  5. I'd go back to the day where i was forced to move and would have put Sammi in a box tightly so she'd never escape and yet wishing that would mean that Sam would be dead by now...I'd like to go back to heaven and ask them to please make me whole again, so that I could work again and help people...that's all I've ever wanted and it killed me in the end.
so I guess going back it would be to Jerusalem to see Jesus and feel his Love...

    1. Well, I wish you could go back, Lorraine, so you could be with Sammi again!

And I'd definitely go back to see Jesus and see what he was all about.

  9. tough question today Martha...hmm. I might go back to my childhood carefree days!

  10. This is an impossible question, Martha! And I need a second machine ~ one to take me back and forth in time, and one to speed up time, so I could see actual geological history happening. Say, like the formation and splitting apart of Pangea, or the advance and retreat of the glaciers 10,000 ago, or the formation of the moon, or, or, or! And I haven't even gotten to human history and all the fascinating people and events. I have a few questions for Jesus to start with! Right now I'm listening to Starbuck's new CSN&Y CD ~ Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, so I'd be happy to start with experiencing Woodstock! You probably weren't even alive then! LOL! Loved your photos from yesterday! Have a good one!

    1. I'm with you on this! I'd want a second machine, too, to head into the future. Many, many years into the future. So I can see what's become of the human race, and this planet. To see if we're better people, a further lost cause, or even extinct.

Actually, I was alive when Woodstock was going on, but pre-school age, so much too young to see it. So I'd go back to visit that for sure.

  13. My first thought is that I would go back and hang out with my parents while they did cool stuff in their youth. I would go see the Beatles at Maple Leaf Gardens with Dad - I would love to be one of the screaming girls who was there! And probably hang out with Mom and her Nanny (who taught her to bake) while they baked cookies together.

  16. I went to a 'regression therapy' session a few years back with a group of friends. The object of the session was to get into a relaxed state (almost a hypnotic one) and the instructor/leader would take us back to our childhood, then the womb, then to past lives.
Being very skeptical about all this I did try my best to let go and see what happened.
When we were all experiencing past lives I became very warm, in fact hot, and had a feeling that I was suffocating.
I related this to the instructor in a discussion period afterwards and told him I was in a protest march of sorts back in the Roman times with a large group of people.
The instructor suggested that maybe I was being punished for protesting by being burnt at the stake!
So, I guess I have already been 'back in time'....a number of times according to this way of thinking by some.....that we all have lived many lives during different periods of history.
So would I like to go back to some time? Definitely NOT the Roman times! But I would like to revisit my junior high days. They were the best days of my childhood and early adolescence.

    1. What an incredible experience, Jim! I would love to do something like that. I'm open to those kinds of things. And because I believe in reincarnation, it would be one heck of a thing to do.

That is definitely not something you'd want to travel back to!

  17. In would go back and visit my Grandmothers that I never met as they both died before I was born.
I heard they were both the most wonderful women and I miss them even though I never met them .
