Farewell, Summer, And Thanks

“There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart.”
- Celia Thaxter -

You've left us, summer, and I didn't get a chance to say goodbye, or to thank you for all the amazing things you granted while you were here.

Like all the soul-soothing hours I spent in the beautiful garden I woke up to every day...

...and all the miracles that grew in it.

Like the furry and feathery friends that came to visit...

...all of which have left (or are leaving us) until spring returns. All of which I will miss. *sniff*

Like the friends that were made when out and about...

...big...

...and small.

Like the festivals...

...and road trips.

Oh, so many wonderful road trips.

Like the tranquil moments by the water...

...the breathtaking views

...and all the interesting, unusual and amusing sightings.

And, of course, the hours and hours of biking that produced most of the photographs taken while you were here.

So, thank you, summer, for all this and more. You were spectacular, and you're really going to be missed.

"Who loves ya, baby?"

Have a lovely day, everyone.

    1. And I hope it will be, Lois. There are years when it's constantly raining and cold, and others when it's cool and sunny. I hope we get the latter :)

  5. Lovely tribute to summer, so beautiful, such lovely memories and photos,I can see why you love summer, and I'm sorry that another one is gone, but hey, plan on planting some winter flowers, they'll cheer you up, and when the cold keeps you down make a plan of which new flowers you're going to try next summer...Mostly stay as happy as you always are, and so sweet, if you don't feel like going out, take macros, you know in your house I bet you have the makings of great macros that would tell a story, or just give us jokes, I love everything you put on, always, I love your blog, and not just in the summer, you can't do anything wrong....you're wonderful, seasons come and go, but funny, beautiful, kind-hearted people, they are worth so much more, have no fear, you'll come up with something ;)

    1. Oh, you bet, Lorraine! Every season has something to offer; that's for sure. And even though I don't take as many photographs in the winter, I always manage to snap some.

  6. What a great post with fun photos. Happy Autumn and boogie boogie.

PS: I made cinnamon raisin rolls today at work, draft 2 and wow, wow, wow. I wish I could teleport you one of these bad boys.

    1. How awesome would that be if we could teleport goodies like that? I'd love to be able to stick a fork through my computer screen and take a bite of something. Imagine that!

    2. I wonder if things will ever turn into the Jetsons like that. Just punch a bottom and bam, there you go. Freshly baked goods.

      Now that's seriously spooky.

    3. I think anything is possible. I wish I could return in about 1,000 years. Actually, maybe 10,000 would be even better! Unless humans don't exist anymore by then. That's possible, too!

    1. I'm the same way, Monique! I feel colder every winter. If I could escape in the winter to a warmer place (at least in January or February), I wouldn't hesitate!

    1. That biking was so much fun, Jim! Best part of our summer. We will do it again next year for sure. And we will continue to ride through the fall season as long as we can. It'll be sad when it's time to put away those bikes.

  18. You are so right, Martha! I will miss summer but I will embrace the colours of autumn and then I hope that I can get out on my snowshoes with a camera so that winter will be bearable until wonderful spring arrives again. In the meantime, thank you for sharing your photos of your summer with us.

    1. Autumn can be a spectacular season, Cathy; and I hope this is one of those types. We were actually discussing cross country skiing; a great replacement for biking. I don't know if we'll actually do it, but it's something to consider.
