Question Of The Day

What are some of your favourite sounds?

Where does one begin with this? There are so many sounds I enjoy. Here are just a few of them:

- crashing waves
- crunchy autumn leaves
- chirping crickets
- the crack of thunder
- rain lashing against a window
- the howling wind
- owls hoo-hoo-hooting
- snow crunching under my boots
- the clip-clop-clip-clop of horse hooves on pavement
- the chug-chug-chugging sound a train makes as it begins to pull away from a station...

...and on and on it goes...

What are some of your favourite sounds?

    1. All good stuff, Lorraine! Once we start thinking about this, the list gets longer and longer.

  2. I agree with your list, Martha. I would add babies laughing, the sound of fire crackling, and water gurgling from a spring. Among others. I also enjoy listening to people watching sports - they all cheer at the same time, and make noises of agony at the same time. It's hilarious.

It was sweet of you to ask about how I'm doing without Lou. Thank you!

    1. Yes, the sports one is hilarious! And all your other choices are on my list, too, which is very long.

No need to mention it, Liza. I love animals, and I can imagine the grief you are experiencing. I hope in time that it lessens.

  3. That's incredible. If I had to come up with a list of my favourite sounds, they would be exactly the same as yours. Truly.

However, I'd also like to add to the pile: the crackle of a roaring fire, the pop of a champagne cork (even though I don't like champagne, it usually means a celebration of some kind). And the sound of bubbles in a tropical fish tank. Oh, and one more thing, the clink of ice in a cool drink.

And I think that's quite enough from me! Have a good day :)

  5. I like all of these but I like the train whistle. I think I like birds early in the morning during breeding season.

  6. My gosh, so many. But my relaxation sound, which is my top sounds, is when the wind blows through the leaves. I have an auto-response which is my shoulder relax and I feel peaceful.

    1. It is so hard to make a small list because there are so many wonderful sounds. But we do have some that soothe us and help us to relax. You certainly have found one that works for you.

  7. My nearly grown children still calling me, "Mama". Norbert purring. And silence. I am beginning to love silence.

    1. Ah, the sound of silence... I can relate to that, Birdie! A favourite of mine, too, as I get older.
