Chuckles and Chortles

Aaaaaaaaand we’re back! How was your weekend, everyone? I hope it was good to you. Yesterday I woke up to snow. Not much. And it melted rather quickly. But it’s a sign of things to come. Brace yourselves...winter is on its way.

But the highlight of the day was a little mouse that my daughter found on her bed, of all places. And so the games began! We closed the door to her room to keep it in one area, and also to keep the cats out. Because the little stinker would have zero chance of surviving if they got a whiff of it. Yes, you heard right: ‘surviving’. There was no way I could kill it, so we trapped it and set it free outside. It took awhile and it was quite a fiasco; the little bugger sure could move quickly, and squeeze through the smallest openings. But you should have seen it; cute as a button with the biggest eyes ever on something so small. I imagine it was relieved to be alive after we released it. Although not too happy about being tossed out into the cold. Oh well...

Anyhow, let’s get the new week going with some humour, shall we?

Wishing you all a beautiful day!

  1. My Hubby could have one of those "Grandpa's Computer Repair" tables... that's how he would like to deal with ALL computers LOL.

    1. I don't blame him, Monique! Sometimes I have days like that :)

  2. These are great, thx for the morning laughs. The mouse is getting in through an opening in the house somewhere. The trick is to find it. Maybe through a vent.

    1. Glad you enjoyed, Christine! We will definitely search for a possible entry, so there isn't a repeat of this.

    1. All funny! I especially loved the pizza one. You've got to have a great imagination - and sense of humour - to come up with that. Not to mention a love for pizza :)

  6. If there's one mouse in your house there's more. Keep watching. I like neuter your pets and weird relatives and friends!

    1. We will definitely keep watching, and we'll pay attention to signs from our cats. They go on the prowl when they suspect some pest is in the house.

  7. My dog know's she can't hide from her bath. I have to pick her up and she'll reach her claw out to hold on to the door frame.

  8. Your mouse story reminds me of the time my daughter had a mouse in the apartment she was sharing with two roommates. It's a long story, but they never found the mouse back until they moved out months later. It was dead underneath her roommate's mini-fridge.

Nice collection of funnies, as always!

    1. Glad you enjoyed, Linda! I'm surprised this mouse made it anywhere in the house with two cats around!

  9. The funniest thing for me is that I wouldn't have understood the last one before yesterday. Austrian pizzas don't come with these things, and I still don't know what they're for, but I saw them at the party I was at last night (I'm visiting a friend in the Bay Area, and we were invited to our favourite author's house. Sorry, I have to gloat a bit! :-) )

  10. Love the chocolate.

As for mice, we kill them as they can make us sick and we have a field across the way. Setting them free, only brings them right back.

    1. That's what I call a chocolate! Can you imagine seeing that at a store?

We usually don't have to track down a mouse; the cats are fantastic at that. You hardly ever see anything around here; they hunt down everything that moves and kill it. But I guess they were sleeping on the job this time! This mouse got lucky.

    2. Cats are nice for that. We have a back field of mice, chipmunks, rabbits, deer, squirrels and sometimes, a big fat bear walks past. All of them, looking for a warm place to hunker down, until spring.

  11. Hahaha, a good way to start a week. The dog thought he's an ostrich, hiding by burrying its head and that's hiding. Grandparents generousity indeed can spoil grandkids. Love those posters :)

    1. A grandparent's job is to spoil the young ones! I'll probably do the same if I ever have grandkids.

  12. I can so relate to the first pic of the dog hiding behind a scrap of toilet paper. Mine do similar things when it's their dreaded 'bath-time' too :)

I also agree with: Neuter your pets - and weird friends and relatives. Hahahaha!

    1. I don't see it very often anymore, but restaurants would put a similar piece like that in the center of a pizza so that the pizza box, once it was shut, wouldn't sink. If it did, the cheese would stick to the box and ruin the pizza! And there you have it...

    1. It would freak me out, too. And it certainly did just that to my daughter! But it was either let the cats catch it and torment it, or trap it and set it free in the greenspace behind our home. We chose the latter. And felt much better about it. There was no need to kill it, really.
