Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was lazy. I’m reading ‘Gone Girl’ by Gillian Flynn, a new favourite writer, and I’m hooked on it. It’s a whodunit and a how was it done type of mystery. And I know that ‘Gone Girl’ has been made into a movie, but I haven’t seen it yet, so don’t spill the beans on the story if you've seen the film or read the book. So far I have a few theories, which will probably all prove to be wrong. The same way they all proved to be wrong with her other book I read ‘Dark Places’. I was stunned by the ending on that one (never in a million years would I have thought of that as a possibility), and I hope to be just as surprised by this book. So if you enjoy reading, give this writer a try. She is good.
Very good.
Shall we get to the funny stuff? Yes, let’s do just that...
Have a beautiful day, everyone!
Lattes are high in price, so true.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good weekend. We vegged out all ding dong day yesterday and it was heaven.
Vegging out is sometimes the best way to spend the day. Especially when the weather is sucky. I love being outdoors and taking photos, but when it's not very nice out, I prefer staying in.
DeleteI had to veg because of the leg, which went a long way in giving me the energy for my Monday and Tuesday.
DeleteDo you do hot chocolate?
I used to, but I haven't had hot chocolate in years. No reason, really. I go through phases. Now I'm in the tea phase. But only during the colder months.
DeleteEddie Murphy's porta-potty face cracks me up!! I have the same reaction LOL. Have a Happy Monday, Martha :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha...I react the same way. I walked into one this summer while out biking, and made those faces!
DeleteBonjour Martha, The vacuum sealed teddy is just hilarious. I didn't know Gillian Flynn, I'll try one of her book for sure. Thanks have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI think you'll really like Gillian Flynn's writing. She's very good and her stories are really engaging.
DeleteHa! Loved the medicine label warning! It does seem strange all these medicines and commercials for medicines that basically say, "This is a wonderful cure for restless leg syndrome; however, side effects may include allergies, headaches, heart attack, and death. If you experience any bad feelings after taking this medication, be sure to call your doctor. This cure is what you've been waiting for!"
ReplyDeleteI know, right? The one that startles me the most is "death"! Whoa!
DeleteLove that latte one, thx for the book recommendation.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll really enjoy this writer, Christine. She's very talented!
DeleteOh the kitty pic are priceless and I love the kissing one too. I guess there really is a wrong way! (I was lazy this weekend too!)
ReplyDeleteHahaha...yes, there really is a wrong way. That would be one type :)
DeleteHa ha, that definition of latte is right on!
ReplyDeleteYou bet! Just tack on a few dollars and voila!
DeleteGreat way to start a day. One that happened to me is a neighbor said,"Painting your fence?" Yep, you guessed it I was painting my fence.
ReplyDeleteI guess you were painting your fence when you were asked that :)
DeleteHi Martha....
ReplyDeleteI have read Gone Girl......fantastic!
I should pick up her other nook for Florida....
Have a great week....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I'm really enjoying this book, and I can't wait to see how it ends. Oh, the suspense... Her book 'Dark Places' is very engaging, and I think you'll really enjoy it while at the beach. THE BEACH! You lucky girl, you!
DeleteGreat collection of laughs, especially the last one!
ReplyDeleteBecause it's so true!
DeleteHilarious sweety, my fav of course he Latte!!
ReplyDeleteThat's the winner this week!
DeleteLol! All hilarious as always! 'Would you like a table?' Lol again. I can't count the number of times I've heard that, and thought, what do you THINK I want?? And yes, I'd like some silverware too. 'Cause sometimes when I'm shown to a table it hasn't been set. So yeah, silverware works great!
ReplyDeleteYup, silverware wouldn't be bad either! LOL...
DeleteGillian Flynn sounds an excellent author. I shall have to get some of her books.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wish I could find a label that says; May cause permanent weight loss, removes wrinkles, and increases energy. Crikey how marvelous would that be?! :)
A medication with that label would be a bestseller! You'd have people lining up for it :)
DeleteAnd give this writer a try. I think you'll really like her style. And her characters are so 'real'. She's really good.
Now I tempted to use the carpet joke
ReplyDeleteIt would be funny to see what response you'd get!
DeleteLiked the Latte...yum.
ReplyDeleteThe best one this week! I like lattes, too.
Deleteyeah, the movie promos have been really … uh … I dunno.. I’m a sissy wimp kinda kid… I like watching Pooh Bear et al.. lol?
ReplyDeleteHahaaaaa… force field protected chicken! rascal cat … and yes, $5 Lattes get on m’nerves
I hate paying that much for a coffee, Carolyn. It just doesn't make sense to me. These coffees are really overpriced!
DeleteHi Martha! I've been enjoying catching up on your recent posts with a cup of hot tea on a blustery, snow-spitting, cold afternoon. Your C&Cs always make me laugh! I go way back before cassette players! LOL I loved my big blue transistor radio, and I remember waiting almost every day for my current favorite song to come on. Thanks for the memories! I enjoyed the pictures of Ottawa. I haven't been there in forever. I went through a rough time in high school with bullies, largely because I was really smart, my father was my principal throughout it, and Mom, Dad, or both were my teachers as well. Then, as an elementary I got to deal with bullies and bullied. It's a complex and unfortunate problem, but there will probably always be bullies. Nacho is a beautiful cat, but I'm glad your visiting mouse got out with its life. I capture them and release them too. I have read "Gone Girl" and seen the movie. I really liked both. Now I have to read "Dark Places." I could literally read 24 hours a day. Thanks for warming my chilly afternoon with great posts and laughs! Take care!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this lovely comment, Louise! I often do the same thing: catch up on blogs! I have my favourites, and when I fall behind, I go visit them and read all the posts I missed. Ah, bullies...yes, they'll always be around, but I think kids should have an enjoyable and bully-free time in school, so I hope we manage to solve that problem. I think you'll really like 'Dark Places'. You may get right down to the last pages like I did and still not figure out exactly what happened and 'whodunit'. And be so surprised! I'm really enjoying this writer. I'm about halfway through 'Gone Girl', and I have another of her books waiting to be read. She's sooo good! Hope you're well!
DeleteI hope that cat eventually got some chicken. Norbert loves chicken and knows when it is in the house. It must be given. It must.
ReplyDeleteMy cats are the same way. They can smell the chicken a mile away!
DeleteThe cat chomping on the chicken container is hilarious! Poor hungry kitty!
ReplyDeleteI know! For a cat to be doing that it must be hungry.

This is great, Jerry! Thank you :) I will have to check out your site and see what other blogs you've listed. I really enjoy discovering new places to visit.
DeleteI LOVE the 'kiss' one! I have seen that! lol
ReplyDeleteYou've seen that type of kiss? That is quite a sight! :)
DeleteOhhh this is hilarious. I wont take it well too if simebody vacuum packs my huggy bears!
ReplyDeleteWhy do they really ask fir table at a restaurant hahhaha.
I guess they're just used to asking the same question, and we're used to answering without thinking about how funny it all is!
