You’re Probably Around My Age If...

...you’ve ever played a song on one of these:

Remember the tabletop jukeboxes that used to be in restaurants, mainly diners? I used to love them. The jukeboxes. Diners, too.

I’d toss a coin or two into these nifty machines, flip through the selection of music and choose a few favourites. I don’t remember exactly how much it cost but I do know that a single quarter got you a few songs. A very fun memory.

Are you old enough to remember tabletop jukeboxes?

  2. Yes! We always tried to get the table that had the wonky defective one -- put in a single quarter and it would play unlimited songs!

  5. Yes, I remember these. there was a much simpler one before this that only had a bout 16 songs on it. regular customers soon got tired of the same songs. So you're not as old as you think!

  8. Yes, I remember these well. Know of one place that still have these in operation. Even the music on them dates back to the 1960s.

  9. I love diner foods. I grew up eating at them. So fun.

Did you get good goodies at the market today?

    1. Not too many goodies at the market, so I didn't pick up much. I will go back again another time. But it was nice to get out. It had actually warmed up during the day, which was nice. Then at night the temperature took a huge dive. Freezing cold! Not so nice.

    2. Such a weird little winter. Spring ants to snowballs and blizzards. We're down to one car now, so no out for me during the day unless I drive Frankenberry in.

But it's been so cold this week, that I haven't want to be out. Burrr.

    3. I know what you mean. It's brutal outside, and I don't feel like going anywhere. I had to yesterday evening, and couldn't wait to get back in my warm house. You could barely stand outside for 2 minutes.

  10. There is a burger joint in town that has these jukeboxes on every table. The burgers are great but everything is covered in grease. Including the juke boxes.

There is still a place outside the city here that has a big jukebox with the old tunes.

    1. They were fun. It's kind of neat that some still exist. I'd love to run across a place with these in them.
