You’re Probably Around My Age If…

...you not only know what these items are, but actually know/knew someone who used them.

Anyone?

They take me way back to my early childhood and remind me of my dad.

Wishing you all a beautiful weekend!

Bikes and Sights: Cruising Along The Cataraqui Trail

“Every time I see an adult on a bicycle I no longer despair for the future of the human race.”
- H.G. Wells -

Are you tired of winter? Eagerly anticipating spring? In need of warmer weather? Greenery? Visits need the water? Maybe even riding a bike?

Well, I can’t change the weather or get spring to arrive earlier, but I can share photos that will provide some hope. Hope for better days ahead. So hop on a bike and come ride with me and the most amazing man in the world. I promise we’ll spot some interesting things along the way...

...like lots of greenery to satisfy the nature lover.

And greenery combined with water.

So peaceful. So wonderfully scenic.

We'll stumble across forgotten places...

...and discover some very interesting things to photograph!

We'll make friends along the way...

...and be pleasantly surprised at just how close we can get to some of them.

And we will make sure to stop by the water for a little while..

...to enjoy the view and rejuvenate our very soul!

Wasn't that a fun ride? I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Have a great day, everyone!

You Asked, I Answer (This and That)

Here are some more answers to inquiries my blog pals made on my ‘Ask Me Anything’ post.

Lorraine asked:
...and also and I meant that how can you look so young.....a secret cream? or maybe you're a woman so full of happiness goes right through like a child.

A big part of it is genetic; most of my family members look much younger than their age. The other part is lifestyle. I stay out of the sun, exercise regularly and eat reasonably healthy foods without depriving myself of anything. I enjoy everything in moderation, including sweets and treats and other crappy (but delicious) stuff. And most important of all I keep stress at bay by practicing these two things:

1) Maintaining a healthy sense of humour no matter what. This is great for you mentally, physically and emotionally. And it keeps you young.

2) Circulating with positive people. I avoid toxic people like the plague because they are like vampires; they suck the very life out of you with their negativity. Life is too short for that kind of nonsense.

Betty asked:
If you chose to live some place else than where you are living right now, where would that be and why?

Someplace warm! As the years go by, I have more and more trouble tolerating harsh winters. And honestly, if it wasn’t for my two daughters, my husband and I would have moved somewhere warmer years ago. I don’t have a specific place in mind but if we were determined to stay in Canada, certain regions in B.C would top the list. Outside of my country, somewhere in the Pacific is extremely appealing like Australia and New Zealand. I also wouldn’t mind a few places in Europe. The warmer ones!

Christine
What's your favourite food?

Pizza. Hands down. The world became a better place when it came along!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam asked:
Will Canada take Ted Cruz back?

Is he on your side of the border? Then no. Sorry... :)

And he also asked:
I mean... do you know how to speak another language fluently or ever wanted to?

Yes, I read, write and speak Greek. My knowledge is at a very basic level, but still, I can communicate. I also studied Spanish and Russian during my college years but it’s all long forgotten since I never had anyone to practice it with. I should have been fluent in French, which was the language of the majority in my hometown, but it wasn’t enforced until I got to high school, and I circulated with English speaking people, so I never mastered it. My two daughters and my husband, on the other hand, are perfectly fluent in it.

That’s it for today. I’ll answer more questions next week. If you have a question, feel free to join in. Just go here and be as nosy inquisitive as you’d like.

Have a great day, everyone!

Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, my friends. How did the weekend treat you? Did it snow where you are? And is it cold? That’s what it’s been like around here just about every weekend this month. But you know what? February is getting the boot this weekend, so there’s hope on the horizon. Spring is coming our way! It is; oh yes it is...

And you know what else is coming? A whole lot of laughter with the images below. Enjoy.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Give this kid an 'A'!

Have a great day, everyone.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool...

…than to speak out and remove all doubt.

(Those foolish Canadians thinking such a thing...)

Yup. Sometimes it’s best not to say anything.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Bikes and Sights: The City of Peterborough

“The advantages? Exercise, no parking problems, gas prices, it’s fun. An automobile is expensive.
You have to find a place to park and it’s not fun. So why not ride a bicycle? I recommend it.”
- Stephen G. Breyer -

I recommend riding a bike, too, and I am really looking forward to getting back on one as soon as I possibly can. There are so many adventures waiting! In the meantime, there are photos of biking days gone by to keep me going.

The photos below were taken the end of August in Peterborough, a city about 185.7 km (115 miles) away. We’d been there before, but this was the first time we biked the area. Need I say that we had a great time?

Like many areas in Ontario there is water, water everywhere...

...and lots of beautiful greenery.

Mysteries sightings...

...and exciting discoveries!

Old railroad tracks that are fun to photograph...

...and many bridges to ride through.

Peterborough has its own University (Trent)...

...and its fair share of graffiti artists.

And make sure to stick around until the sun starts going down to enjoy the spectacular views...

...that get better and better as the clock keeps ticking.

Peterborough is full of surprises. You just never know what you'll find as you ride along...

Have I mentioned how much I love firemen?

Thanks for coming along on this adventure. Happy Thursday, everyone!

You Asked, I Answer (This and That)

Thanks to everyone who participated in my ‘Ask Me Anything’ post. For those who missed it and would like to join in, feel free to do so. There’s no expiry date. Just click here and be nosy inquisitive. My first post answers an assortment of questions. Let’s begin...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Happy Whisk (a.k.a Wonder Woman) asked:
What's the first thing you'll plant this spring?

My hands in the soil! And after that, new perennials to fill in the empty gaps. Counting the days...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lovely poet, Margie, asked:
Do you like mornings or evening best?

I am an early bird. 100%! The tranquility of the morning hours really appeals to me. I’m usually up between 5:00 and 5:30 AM, no later than 6:00. On weekends I sometimes sleep in...till 7:00 *snort* I wrote about this on a previous post. And not only am I an early riser, I'm also super energized during those hours and very productive.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sweet and gentle Lorraine asked:
What do you do, when you're not out taking photos, any hobby?

You all know that my biggest passion is photography followed by gardening, and that my nose is in a book every chance I get. But what I’ve never mentioned is that I love to paint ceramic bisque. I don’t do it as often as I used to but in the past it was a huge hobby. I took classes for a couple of years, and went on to paint numerous pieces for my children and home. I also gifted many items to family members and friends, and even sold quite a few. Here are some photos of pieces I painted from days gone by...

At one point I was obsessed with dragons and castles and knights and wizards and so on, and decorated my home with many such pieces that I painted, most of which I still have displayed on bookshelves. Here are a few:

And that’s it for today. I’ll have more answers for you next week.

Have a wonderful Tuesday, bloggy pals!
