It’s The Little Things: Birthday Cake and Many Blessings

What better way to celebrate a birthday than with cake. Especially cheesecake; my favourite. And that’s what my family picked up for me yesterday. They are the best, this family of mine.

And they’re thoughtful, too. They didn’t jam 50 candles on the cake, although I wouldn’t have minded. It would have been kind of fun trying to blow them all out.

Yesterday was a day filled with love and birthday wishes and special gifts. Like this painting from my younger daughter who is the artist of the family.

This new decade is already off to a great start. I am blessed with so many wonderful people in my life. Including all of you! Thank you, my blogging pals, for all your wonderful birthday wishes yesterday!

Have a wonderful Thursday.

  1. That cheesecake looks delicious! 50 candles would have been fun to try to blow out. We had a friend who was over 100 years old, and my family tried to light 105 or so (can't remember exactly) candles on her cake...by the time the last was lighted, the first was pretty much all melted down, and the cake had melted wax over part of the top! It was fun, but we resorted to numbered candles later years. I don't imagine it would be that difficult for only 50 candles!

Glad you were able to enjoy a wonderful birthday with your family. Your daughter is a talented artist!

    1. That is a funny story, Bethany! Imagine, over 100! That is something. Yes, I don't think 50 candles are a big deal. I would have had fun trying to blow them all out at the same time.

    1. She loves art and spends time creating paintings and drawings, most of which she gives as gifts. And I am loving this short hair! So easy to wash, even easier to style.

  12. Cheesecake, oh oh that is definitely a 50th Birthday numero 1 choice.

Your daughter is definitely artistic. Has she considered art college.....we have a well known one here NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design) such a mouthful.......so NASCAD (properly said).......is awaiting!

Oh BTW you are 50 now!!

    1. I'm not sure how far she'll take her artwork, but I hope she continues. She doesn't have any formal training; she's completely self taught. Right now, she has scholarship offers to the two schools she applied to in Ottawa because her overall grade average if over 90%. So far, it looks like she'll be heading there in the fall.

Yes, I am 50! Amazing how fast time goes by.
