Interesting Sightings

"In my view you cannot claim to have seen something until you have photographed it."
- Emile Zola -

It’s that time, folks. Time for some interesting, unusual, fascinating and even entertaining things I see when I’m out and about with camera in hand. Always with camera in hand. ‘Cause you just don’t know what will end up in front of the lens.

Let’s get to it...

It certainly does! Isn't this a great name for a restaurant?

OH NO...a bike tossed away! What is this world coming to?

If the real Woodpeckers don't visit, the fake ones will do. (Seen in Toronto)

OHMYGOSH...look at the size of this wasp nest from last year.

Coolest sighting of last summer. And yes, we did go inside.

A ramp for the turtles. "*squee* Cutest sighting of last summer.

Isn't this great? We spotted this in Ottawa last summer while biking.

Here's a close-up of the bottom.

What you don't want suddenly appearing in front of your camera lens while you're photographing the lake!

Yes, nobody cares! (Spotted on a car while out walking this weekend.)

And that's it for today. Have a great day!

    1. Yes, it's time to get out and enjoy nature. The winter was long and very cold!

  2. Great series of photos of odds and ends. We had a pileated woodpecker in our back tree a few days ago and I had to look close to see that your one was a fake. We have a turtle ramp down by the bay and on the weekend when we were there the water was so low it hardly had any water around it. Keep snapping this photos.

    1. The photo of the turtles was taken in Belleville. If I remember right, that's where you are? It's a beautiful area that we enjoy visiting.

I would like to eat at "Serves You Right' such a great name for a restaurant.
Why would anyone toss a bike away?

    Great photos, thanks Martha.

  13. Fantastic photos ! Love the restaurant sign, what a great and imaginative name - unfortunately it looks like the cafe went out of business as the place looks deserted and there's a for rent sign in the window. Guess it's true that a photo can tell a story and that a picture is worth a thousand words.

    1. I haven't been by there for a long time, so I have no idea what's happened to that place. Perhaps this year I'll take a closer look.

Just how big was that spider?

    1. BIG! But I'm not afraid of spiders, so it didn't bother me. In fact, I made sure to take more photos after I noticed it.

  17. Loved this post, Martha! I swear I saw that stick family bumper sticker on a car in Hawaii! You always catch the most interesting sights with your camera. I, too, go everywhere with my camera in hand! I shall be catching up on your posts that I missed while I was on vacation! Have a great Wednesday! The workweek is downhill from there!

    2. Back again! I'm so glad that I went back and caught the posts I missed while away! Great Chuckles and Chortles ~ always! I've enjoyed seeing the answers to your "You Asked, I Answer" questions. They were a lot of fun! I'm shaking my head when I contrast the questions Francie asked you and She Who Seeks! LOL! My spiritual view is pretty close to yours. And I enjoyed reading about how you and TMAMITW met! I just turned 65, and I met my E-P when I was 32.5. I have spent literally half my life with him. Like you, when I was younger, I rebelled against the nice guys ~ till I wised up after a wrong first marriage and then met the ultimate nice guy! I'm so glad that you met your Richard; he seems the perfect match for you!!! I think the funniest question was asked by Adam: Will Canada take Ted Cruz back? LOL I'm still reeling with learning that he was born in Calgary! Why are those Birthers so silent, just when you need them? But two posts I won't forget are the photos of your dad with daughter and granddaughter and the beautiful tribute to your youngest daughter growing up over the years! She's beautiful! You have to be so proud of her! Thanks for all your wonderful shares!

    3. Thanks for stopping by and leaving these lovely comments. I am extremely proud of my daughter. She is growing into a beautiful young woman. And she's certainly making wise choices. She has dated (and continues to date) such nice boys. And has no trouble canning a relationship that doesn't suit her. If a guy treats her badly, she won't hesitate to kick him to the curb. She knows what she wants and won't sell herself short. This makes me so happy!

  20. Hey Martha,

England calling at almost three thirty in the morning. I'm loving the photos, eh. All we need is a moose wondering through downtown Toronto and I'm totally happy.

Amazing what you can see spotted on a car. Stick with it, I say.

    Gary :)

    1. Hello, England :) It's always a pleasure hearing from you. And I hope to be 'reading' more about what's going on with you, Gary.

I expect with all the outings we go that sooner or later I'll run across a moose :)
