Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, blogging pals, and happy May, too! I’m back in the blogging world after a week’s absence. And the most amazing man in the world and I really were absent. As in vacationing in another country type of absence. So where did we go? Here’s a hint:

Our destination is on the above airline departures listing. Not sure which one? Here’s another hint:

We enjoyed a week of sunny skies, hot and humid temperatures, white sand beaches, turquoise water and the best pina coladas (particularly in this country’s capital) and rum and cokes.

Still unsure? Here is the biggest hint of all: lots of fellow Canucks around! Because it is, after all, a very popular destination for Canadians. Exclusively. For now (hint, hint).

Go ahead, take a guess. For those that get it right, you’ll receive these prizes: white sand between your toes, salty ocean water up your nose, a moldy beach towel and an empty bottle of suntan lotion. (Yes, Richard, everyone wins. Not just the person that rings in first.)

I’ll share more tomorrow about our trip. Until then, here is some funny stuff to start the day off right.

Have a beautiful day, everyone!

  2. ha ha ha why are you picking on the little guy!

psychelyn doesn't count because she didn't guess... so that will make ME the first one... It's my hometown Quebec city unless you went to Mr Castro's home land... and since there is only one destination where you will have a gorgeous beach... it must be Val d'Or ;)))

Welcome back Martha, the blogging world is just not the same without you!

    1. Wow, Richard wins even though he wasn't first. That doesn't seem fair.

    2. Actually, everyone wins no matter when they commented. As long as they got the destination right. Because I said so. My blog, my rules :)

    3. You came very close with the Val d'Or guess, Richard :) Yes, indeed, we were in Mr. Castro's home land. It was a much-needed and very appreciated getaway.

    5. He is fun to tease because he's a good sport and joins in on the fun!

  6. Yes, Canadians love Cuba!!! I've never been so I'm green, positively green, with envy! And you're right, it won't be long until those all-inclusives are full of Americans. Big big changes are coming to Cuba.

So glad you had a wonderful time. Looking forward to hearing of your adventures!

    1. Holy cow, Debra! You must visit Cuba before all the changes. It's still quiet and mainly full of Canadians. You'll get to meet some wonderful Canucks from coast to coast. Go while it's still our playground!

    1. You got it, Jim! Definitely a home away from home for us Canucks. For now. Soon it'll get busy and expensive and no longer be our playground.

    1. Yup, Canadians have been going to Cuba for decades. It's been exclusively our playground. But not for much longer. We will have to share!

  15. I was sure you were going to St. John's ~ Just kidding! Cuba! I'm glad that you had a wonderful time, well-appreciated after a long, tough winter, I'm sure! My niece Sara just got back from there a few weeks ago. She spent a semester studying Spanish in Havana and lived with a wonderful host family while she did so. She is going back in November because she is doing a project on Cuba for her studies at Dalhousie University. It's great to see you back! Great chortles and chuckles!

  17. It's hard to go wrong with pizza! As far as marriage goes, it seems it would be hard to find the right person to lead a successful one--I'm glad you found your wonderful husband!

Good one about bad grammar -- "your" vs "you're"

    1. The right person is the one that wakes up every morning wondering how they can make you happy. Never settle for anything less than that. You may have to filter through many bad apples before the right one emerges, and it may take time, but it's worth it
