Inside My Introverted Brain

Apparently we dream all the time but more often than not, I don’t remember mine. When I do, though, they are quite interesting. No run of the mill types for me; my dreams are quite extraordinary. I’m not surprised considering I have such an active imagination that sometimes doesn’t settle down before I go to bed. Thus the weird and wacky dreams. I dream about alien encounters and hanging around with dinosaurs and visiting other planets and talking to ghosts and post-apocalyptic societies and bumping into mythological creatures that aren’t so mythological, after all. And zombies. That’s the latest theme.

l tossed and turned all night and barely got any sleep. But despite the restlessness, I managed to dream. About zombies. Hour after hour. Each time I woke up, I thought the dream would end but when I fell asleep again, it continued where it left off. It was a little spooky but also very cool. It had the makings of a really good movie. Too bad I don’t remember all the details because I’d be able to write a film script, sell it, make a lot of money and then fly all of us to a tropical island so we could meet. Wouldn’t that be fun? Meeting fellow bloggers and taking a vacation? Oh well...another lost opportunity. Maybe next time!

What kinds of dreams do you have?

Wishing you all a beautiful weekend!

  1. Interesting theme with the zombies and the recurrent dream of it throughout the night. I usually tend to dream about things I might be worried about; for instance I was doing hospitality at a church we used to go to (provide light snacks for fellowship between services). The first few times I did it, I had dreams beforehand of running out of food, not getting things set up in time, etc. When I got comfortable doing it, those dreams went away. I went through a series of dreams where I couldn't get anything done on time at work; couldn't get a report initiated, etc. It was weird because at that time things were going smoothly. I knew a psychologist once who said it was very important that we dream, whether we remember them or not, but couldn't really say if dreams had significance. I don't try to interpret them. I'm just grateful some nights I'm dreaming since I suffer sometimes from insomnia.

    1. It sounds like you dream about things that you worry about. It happens to me, as well, sometimes. But most times my dreams are adventurous. I suppose it might be instigated by all the reading I do. I also don't bother to interpret them. As long as I'm sleeping soundly, I'm good.

  2. I hate the scary dreams that seem so real. Usually when I am overtired I think is when I get those, being chased and unable to escape, stuff like that. The worst is when your family members are in them.

    1. That is definitely the worst thing, Christine. And especially if my kids are in danger. Really freaks me out!

  3. Rarely remember my dreamy state, only a few times. But looks like you got some nightmare type dream going on for you.

    1. It wasn't that bad because it didn't really scare me. It felt like a movie mostly.

  4. That is some photograph and some message. Anyway I wish you ad told me what zombies do before I went to see Zombieland - which was billed as a comedy!! eek.

  5. Her claw hand in the 2nd picture is so right on haha We are the 99%-zombies!

I remember quite a few dreams, even just last night I had a dream that was like a whole movie played through my head and then at the end I saw the beginning again. There was a sound stage full of rockets with nerds in them that had been teased at school, and on the game show/reality show whatever they were going to get a lucky number in order to try and not get teased anymore... It was very odd, the main character in the movie was one of the nerds and he had just saved the planet and still had to worry about getting teased when he went back to school. But he got a chick in the end, so not all bad!

    1. It sounds like you've got one heck of an imagination! You've got your own movies playing internally while you sleep :)

  6. Most of my dreams are sweet dreams. However there is a recurring one where I have to crossed customs coming back from Europe and I am so stress. I would rather dream about Zombies!

    1. You aren't trying to sneak food products through customs are you? Like many do :) That would cause stress.

  7. Yes, they do say we all dream ... but I don't always remember them, and sometimes those I do are very jumbled! I do sometimes have dreams in colour and not black and white - does that mean anything I wonder?

Ah well ... here in the UK it's nearly time for bed, so sweet dreams everyone.

Wishing you all good night and a happy weekend to come.

    All the best Jan

  8. the concept of zombies isn't very scientific, so I'm not scared of the thought of them like I was when I was in my pre-teens. I always wondered why zombies never eat other animals. Only homo-sapiens and we thought koalas were picky

    1. Hahaha...yes, zombies seem a little picky about their diet! I never thought of that before :)

  9. I don't have the creative type of dream. My dreams are confusing bits and pieces. People are in the wrong places and wrong times. I used to have teacher dreams...not anymore.

  10. I mostly forget my dreams when I wake up. All I remember is how upset the dream made me feel.

  11. You surely have very interesting dreams. Generally I don't dream but in the few cases i dream, I forget them. Once when I was young I had a dream about landing on the moon and based on that I wrote a short story. My teacher was very surprised because at that time no one had landed on the moon. She read my story to the entire class and then she took it to her house to read my story to her children.

Your last photo about the poor is full of meaning. You remember how the French revolution started. It started because the poor had nothing to eat and the queen of France told the poor to eat cake if they have no bread to eat.

If you have noted how the government in all countries function you will observe they are only helping the rich become richer. As a result the poor are becoming poor. May be there will be a revolution or not but this is a very sorry state of affairs.

    Best wishes

    1. You never know, Joseph. Desperate people (and very hungry people) do desperate things. This image was meant as a joke but who knows what the future will bring, especially if there is a shortage of food and water.

Your short story sounds amazing! You certainly made an impression on your teacher.

  12. Yes, a big party and get-together would be grand.

I slept so sound last night that I remember nothing. But that's because my sick little body was wore the heck out from allergy overload and skin rashes from shopping.

Today, is Sunday and I'm gonna chill, do light chores, chill, bake, chill.

    1. Frankenberry and I were having homemade brunch, and he told me that in the middle of the night I belted out blood curdling screams. I completely forgot until he said that. So aside from the scary movie like screaming, I slept like a rock. Tim, not so much.

    2. Wow, that must have been pretty frightening! I don't think I've ever heard blood curdling screams. I imagine it really shook him up. I wonder what you were dreaming about. Someone stole the breville? :) It would be a nightmare for me if someone took my photography equipment!

    3. You cracked me up about the Breville. I dunno. I do it a lot, but the other night the screams were more scary movie screams. Sometimes I'm in my dream trying to call out for help but can't get the words out in my dream and Tim says it sounds like that in real life. So he wakes me up. Though sometimes he can put his hand on me and I stop struggling.

Not sure what I'm dreaming about.

    4. That is scary. It's happened to me and it's happened to my husband. I've had to shake him out of something like that!

    5. It's very nice to have someone there, to shake up awake when we're letting out screams and cries.

    6. Oh my gosh...for sure! Being stuck in a dream like that is terrifying. And when you wake up finally, you are still terrified and exhausted!

  14. what a great photo oh introverted brains my favourite is constant Nazis running after me, always nightmares the worse I've ever had was swimming in sewer water full of crap and trying to stay afloat while monsters tried to drown me ...It's horrible some of the nightmares I've had, well I couldn't write a screen about that it's already been lived and written about, re Holocaust...sometimes I wonder if it's not a past life and pray that it isn't although it would explain why i spent years suffocating before I accepted to take medication my life became worse than my nightmares, sometimes honestly I think I'm living suffocating because of a past life who knows maybe I was there, maybe I killed myself in a previous one maybe this time I live through the same without any reason or cause, although I've had some bad times, maybe it was only meant to stay in my cells long enough for me to suffer same without killing my self, it's the conclusion I came to because everything in my life so far, everything has been hell on earth, but i'm here and i love my blogger friends, and I love that I know I'll never kill myself, wow that's heavy but hey don't say nightmare to me, ever lol I missed you girl you'll be happy I hope to know that I'll blog on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, half the money twice the fun because I can't not visit, I missed you girl!

    1. Wow, that's pretty intense stuff, Lorraine! Well, I believe in reincarnation and things like that, so as far as I'm concerned, anything is possible. I'm sorry about your suffering. That is not something that makes me happy because I wish you only good things. Perhaps the arrival of your granddaughter is the joy that will make everything better. I always miss you when you're not in the blogging world and I sincerely hope that you never disappear for good. That would be heartbreaking!

  15. Whew, it sounds like you have exciting dreams, Martha! Next time be sure to take notes...that blogger meetup on a tropical island would be awesome! ;)

I have all sorts of dreams. Most of them are semi-realistic, though I have dreamt of flying and also of dying in/before a nuclear war (it wasn't bad at all); though I liked the one about saving the world from a nuclear war while working as a cashier better...ha! Probably the worst one recently was of going to my own wedding; the guests were arriving, but unfortunately I couldn't remember whom I was going to marry (he hadn't arrived yet), so I called it off and decided to hold an engagement party instead so I could find out who the groom was first and wouldn't be going into the wedding blind. Painful...if I get engaged at some point, I will be sure to write my fiance's name down somewhere so I don't forget--that was embarrassing trying to explain to my grandparents in the dream!

    1. Oh my gosh, I had a good laugh with your wedding dream. Although I'm sure it wasn't funny in your dream! I guess you have an active imagination just like me. I read a lot, so I'm not surprised my mind dreams up all kinds of interesting things.

Yes, a blogger meetup would be amazing! I'll keep a notepad on my night table :)
