Question Of The Day

What is your least favorite chore?
Mine is ironing. And I avoid it like the plague. In fact, I haven't ironed in years, which is a good thing because I become quite hostile when I do. Just ask my family. I'm not exactly sure what aggravates me so much about this chore but there you have it.

How about you?

  1. LOL with ironing; I don't even have an iron or a board :) My least favorite chore is actually two; unstacking the dishwasher and folding clothes :)

    1. I'm not a fan of those two either, Betty, particularly the dishwasher. I don't know why that is.

  2. Hi Martha!
    I love ironing! Ha!
Scrubbing oven pans is my least favorite! So....I get my boyfriend to do that! Smart,eh?
Rain just starting here...I think we are in for a big storm!
    Enjoy your day..
    Cheers!

    1. That same storm passed through here last night! It sounded pretty bad for awhile. Today it's still a little windy but the sun is out!

  3. I don't have a least favorite but for some reason, I'm horrible, HORRIBLE, about folding and putting away the laundry. I'll wash it, but for some reason, putting it away, not my strong suit.

    1. I'm the same way. I actually like doing laundry. But when it comes time to fold things and put them away, it becomes a drag!

  4. Ironing like you, as I never do it. Don't mind laundry, unlike Ivy. Housework in general...eeps.

  5. I don't have a least favourite housework chore. I have about the same level of interest for all of them. And if you saw my house you'd know what the level is. :)

  6. I don't do ironing either. I take the boys' shirts to the dry cleaners instead. Anything else that needs ironing just stays wrinkled.

    1. Good for you, girl. Life is too short to waste it on ironing :)

  7. I served in the military, so ironing was a past time not a chore hahaha

I don't have a least one, I dislike them all equally!

    1. I would have been booted out of the military as soon as my ironing hostility came out :)

  8. Several years ago I had too iron my daughter's wool kilt. It had become wrinkled in storage. I had to go looking for the iron. When I found it my daughter didn't even know what it was. I think she was about 11 at the time. Ironing is right up there on chores I avoid.

    1. My kids watched "Home Alone" the other day and there is a scene where the boy rigs up an iron to drop on the burglar's head. My kids didn't know what it was. My 8 year old son thought it was a weird metal shoe, like for a knight maybe.

We buy wrinkle-free stuff as much as possible, or just put up with wrinkles. My husband is a lawyer! But he wears a coat over the wrinkly shirts so no one sees.

    2. Seems I have lots of company in the anti-ironing group. More power to us!

    1. That can be quite a task. I don't mind it all that much but it's certainly not a favourite.

  11. All of them

well ironing is probably my least favorite. Especially with fancy clothes. I create more wrinkles than what I save.

    1. I know what you mean, Adam. Some of those fancy articles of clothing can be a real pain with wrinkles.

  12. Haven't ironed for years! Neither has my wife - except perhaps for some of her sewing projects.

  13. I probably haven't ironed in years either. The iron gets so hot, it scares me. Plus, why bother? Then again, cleaning the toilet it worse.

    1. Yup, cleaning the toilet is not fun at all. And yet, I'd rather do that than iron!

  14. Probably vacumming because the carpets are so thick all the crap doesn't get sucked out and the bending kills my sciatic back. Cleaning the toilet and bathroom sink.

I never minded ironing but now my clothes don't need it so I don't do it.

    1. I totally agree about thick carpets and vacuuming! I CANNOT stand that. And I also cannot stand thick carpets. Or any types of carpets. Floors are so much easier to deal with.

  16. Doing dishes in fact I hate it so much that I fill the sink with boiling water a few spritz of dish washing liquid and leave it for a day or so, then it's clean , I rinse, and wait until it's at which time I will make the effort to put them in cupboard, gosh I hate doing the dishes argggh, I'll clean a toilet anyday, have a good one girl ;)

    1. It is so interesting what each one of us likes and doesn't like! I don't mind dishes unless there is a lot of scrubbing involved. And I even prefer washing them by hand than running the dishwasher because I hate unloading the dishwasher. Isn't that odd? We all have our habits!

  17. I've been thinking about this one for a while. Most chores I don't hate. I'm not crazy about them, but they need to be done, so I just do them and get it over with. The chore that is hardest for me is picking out what to wear to an event. I usually bring three pairs of shoes with me in case I change my mind on the way...

    1. Oh, I totally get that, Bethany. I have trouble picking out stuff to wear, too. And shoes are the worst. Because aside from choosing something you like, you also want to be comfortable!

  18. Hi Martha! It's funny how everyone has such different views. For me, I don't really like any of the chores, but I like clean clothes, and I like having a fridge full of food, and I like a clean bathroom. I have to force myself to focus on the endgame.

Modern day laundry is the easiest of them all. Everytime I fill the washing machine, I think about our ancestors who had to lug their clothes down to the creek and use rocks to clean them. All I do is push buttons and they come out magically cleaned for me!

But vacuuming is my favorite because I do it last - it means I'm home-free!

Now if only these moving boxes would unpack themselves!
