On Friday, I posted this image on my daughter's Facebook page:
And added the caption:
"Room for rent. Looks like the cat might be interested."
This was what her room looked like the day after we moved her into her university residence. Completely emptied (except for the bed) and scrubbed down. My daughter was stunned at the amount of work I'd done in less than 24 hours. If you could see what it looked like before this you would be stunned, too.
Yesterday I finally got around to applying two coats of primer and today the walls get a fresh coat of paint. Tomorrow morning I'll paint the trim and the doors white and put her room back together again.
Then I'll take a look at the cat's application to rent the space...
Have a lovely day, everyone.
You are funny.
ReplyDeleteThe sense of humour will keep me sane during this period :)
DeleteAgreed.
Deletehahahahahaahahaa! hahahahahaha!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteGreat progress! The cat could use a smaller room and you could rent this to someone else.
ReplyDeleteThe cat won't be happy about that :)
DeleteI bet the cat is looking for your daughter :)
ReplyDeletebetty
She was for a couple of days.
DeleteI would use it for your self and or for when your daughter comes home for the holidays ! Empty nesting isnt easy I know ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. It'll still be my daughter's room. I'm just painting the room and freshening it up while she's at school.
Deletewow that is a bare room!
ReplyDeleteJust the bed! Nothing else...
DeleteThis looks like one of those pictures that would be easy to make horrible but you make it look easy to get it just right! Hope that makes some smidgen of sense ;)
ReplyDeleteIt does.
DeleteI wish I had the energy to clean my kids rooms up and paint them. My kids left in 1987 and 1990. It's about time I get something done.
ReplyDeleteSometimes an incentive is needed. For us it's the desire to move and downsize!
Deletebut all cats think every room is theirs
ReplyDeleteYup. And my cats are no different.
DeleteCats hate change....but this one may get to like iys new room after all is done.
ReplyDeleteYou got it, Jim. She has contacted me again to rent it :)
DeleteI love how your cat is photo bombing. It wasn't an accident.

It never is an accident. And my black cat always ALWAYS makes sure she's center stage :)
DeleteI'd rent it but you're leaving....and do you really want someone you don't know live in the house you're selling? Think about, how do you say it's for rent but only until we sell...??? knowing you, you'll come up with something irresistible, I was playing with Runes today (tells of future or present event) and I got X, it's either I'll change location or death, I hope I have a say in it, either way I'd be happy a new house, or my house in heaven....hey either way sounds heavenly....
ReplyDeleteI hope it means you'll change locations, Lorraine! We still need you here :)
DeleteAnd I'm only joking about the rental. It's still my daughter's room that she'll use when she's home from university on weekends or holidays. Until my move, anyway.
actually not an X but an R.... anyway
ReplyDeleteGot it!
DeleteI'm sure this has been a bittersweet moment for you. Sweet to know that as a parent you've raised a wonderful daughter, who is clever enough to attend college, and is blessed with an artistic soul. :)
ReplyDeleteStill, it will be hard to get used to the empty nest with its all too quiet moments.
You are absolutely right. It's very bittersweet. And it's very strange without her here. I keep expecting her to walk through the door!
DeleteI can imagine that it was a huge amount of cleaning. You did an awesome job! And I'd definitely consider that cute cat's application ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's my cat, Nacho. She is a sweetheart And she likes to help me while I work...*groan* :)
DeleteWhat fantastic progress ... well done.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
And even more so today. It's finished! I'll be posting photos when the room is back in order.
DeleteHahaha! Very funny, Martha!
ReplyDeleteGreat job...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Just having a little fun :)
DeleteYou should also tell your daughter you changed the locks hahaha
ReplyDeleteBAHAHA! I should. That would be fun :)
