Question Of The Day

I was going to say breakfast but that's not it. My favourite meal of the day (not really a meal but...) is the popcorn the most amazing man in the world and I snack on every single night while we watch something on TV. Sometimes we watch a movie, sometimes we watch something prerecorded and sometimes we binge on an old series. Right now we're enjoying the 'The X-Files' (remember that?) and right before this it was the comedy 'Seinfeld'. We take turns making the popcorn and we air pop it in our microwave. Much tastier and much healthier.

Your turn!

  2. Oh I love popcorn. Sadly for me it's the real movie kind you buy in the theatre in the bucket loaded with butter. I would say my favorite meal of the day is lunch because it's usually healthy, alone and quiet.

    1. I've had my fair share of movie theatre popcorn but I can't eat since I discovered air popped at home.

  3. I still watch the X-Files, one of my top shows, we have them on DVD. Back in the day when collections were an arm and a leg. Now, they are sooo cheap and on streaming.

And like you, I'd pick not so much a meal, but time spend with my Honey Bunny, at the table or ... during scary movie night, back when I was able to digest pepperoni rolls and tea, or popping corn with various toppings like salt and butter, or ....homemade caramel.

    Woohoo. Good eats.

    2. And I don't even like pepperoni, but something about them in the warm roll and on the couch watching a scary movie. I dunno. So fun. Yes, ONLY homemade caramel will do.

  4. Now, remember I am old BUT from all the years of "necking" at the old drive in movies, Popcorn gets me excited. Just like the experiment with Pavlov's dogs.

I really have no favorite meal.

    1. Hahaha! I love that. "Necking" I haven't heard that in years. I'm not sure what the young'uns are calling it these days.

  6. That is so sweet with you and your hubby's nightly routine with the popcorn :) I do remember the X-Files and who can resist Seinfeld? Always a good laugh there :)

I like dinner because it is now the only meal I eat with someone; so its nice to have the company. I especially like Friday night dinners because we go out to a restaurant, so no cleaning up afterwards :)

    1. I can so understand your Friday night outings! I enjoy going out to dinner, too, because I do all the cooking at home and it's nice to have someone else prepare a meal for me!

    1. Yes, the first coffee of the day is the best! I always look forward to that as soon as I wake up in the morning.

  8. My favourite meal is lunch time ... a pot of tea, a sandwich or salad, some yogurt and a good book to read while sitting at the kitchen table looking out over the backyard.

  9. I would say dinner as it's my largest meal!

  10. My favorite meal must be dinner. It is always tasty, capped with dessert, and signals the end of the work day.

    1. That is a great way of putting it..."signals the end of the work day." It certainly does.

  11. The hubs likes X Files, I can stand some but others give me the heebie jeebies!

As far as favorite meal.... poo. No, not poo, I'm just struggling with having no appetite lately so my favorite "meal" is the 3 pm "I haven't eaten much all day, just bring me something home please" and the hubs brings me food :) Closest thing to having a "food genie" and I dig it.

  12. I like them all, but I have to say dinner, because I always read when I eat dinner, then continue unto the night, missed you girl will eventually catch up, promise

  13. X Files... Who could forget? I love old shows, but half the time when I go back, I'm blown away by how corny they are.

My favorite meal is probably dinner, just because I get to sit around the table with all my "adorables," and my wonderful hubby will often make the meal. (Which is amazing because he's really got the gift.) Here's to the small things and the small moments that never last as long as they should!

  14. I love all meals, Martha, no matter the conditions under which I eat them. I know when I wake up every day that I know I'll be guaranteed happiness at least three times! I love that you and TMAMITW have that popcorn-sharing time each evening while you watch tv. My actual favorite "meal" is my morning coffee. Three years into my retirement, and I still haven't gotten used to the joy of being able to linger over a cup of coffee as I start my day. Such a simple thing, but I rarely got a chance to do it when I was working! I can even zone out! LOL Have a lovely day!

    1. I must admit that the first cup of coffee is the best. I'm an early bird and I get up way before anyone else, and I can't tell you how much I enjoy sipping that first cup of coffee as the sun comes up...and with so much quiet!

  16. Dinner (eaten at lunch time) is the only meal my whole family eats together, so it's pretty special to have everyone together and talk about things. Supper is every man for himself. On Friday nights and weekends often my sister Charity and I will eat noodles or cereal together while watching old series...it's pretty fun and relaxing, so your popcorn + movies nightly routine sounds pretty awesome!

    1. Sounds like a great balance, Bethany. I love that your family eats lunch like that together and how you and your sister enjoy hanging out watching old series. When I was growing up, we ate together as a family every night and then when we (kids) got older and our schedules were erratic, we used to eat together when possible, but if the week didn't work out, Sunday at lunch we all gathered together, just about every week. I did that with my own kids and now that my kids are of doing their own thing, my husband and I continue to eat our meals together. It's not really about the food as much as it is about coming together as a family. It was - and continues to be - one of the most important things to me.
