Fill In The Blank

...ice cream!

And let me tell you, not much has changed since then. Although I don't eat very much of it anymore. It goes straight to the hips and thighs!

Your turn...

    1. That is very interesting! I don't think I discovered coconuts until much later in life.

    2. It helped that we lived near the coast where we could get fresh green coconuts (and that my mom is half Thai, and she enjoyed them). I don't like the brown coconuts in stores here in Iowa.

    3. That is very cool. Do you still have relatives that you know of in Thailand? And did you ever visit? That would be an incredible trip. I don't know anyone who has gone there. It's exotic, historic, tropical and full of unique culture...definitely on my list of places I'd love to visit!

    4. My grandmother had something like 9 siblings, so I have a lot of cousins over there, and maybe a couple living grand-aunts, I'm not sure. I've never gone over--and my mom has never been back, but my grandma did visit Thailand again in the early 2000s. I would love to go over there someday; it's on my top-5 list. :)

    5. I hope you make that trip one day. It will be something you will never forget! Imagine the blog post (or posts) that would come out of it :)

  3. Mom's chocolate gravy with biscuits! Not a gravy but a thin, hot, rich, chocolate pudding...mmmm!

  4. I'm glad that I don't like to eat ice cream when it is cold out, so that limits how many months of the year that I can eat it; which is a good thing because it finds my hips and thighs too :)

I loved my mom's fried chicken. She would fry it and then put it in the oven for about 20 minutes to bake on the frying. It was so moist and delicious!

  5. On the surface such an easy question! But I loved food of all kinds, Martha; still do today! I was very fond of fudgesicles. I suppose building a bonfire on the shore, roasting hotdogs and marshmallow, and washing them down with orange crush was hard to beat. My siblings and I did that many times on our own starting when I was in grade three. Happy Friday!

    1. It must have been easy for your mom that you enjoyed a variety of food. And I LOVE fudgesicles! The most amazing man in the world and I have them regularly.

  8. When I was a kid a long, long time ago, my favorite food was pancakes. I still like them, but don't eat them very often as my wife does not like them and won't make them. But she does like waffles which we make from scratch every now and then.

    1. Good stuff! I didn't like a lot of veggies when I was a kid but stuff like corn and red peppers and even eggplant (believe it or not) were favourites. But fruits? I LOVED fruits. My dad and I were the fruit eaters of the family. And we both were HUGE fans of watermelon. I still love watermelon. I could eat it every day.

  17. Our family would take long rides through the Rockies to find good fishing and camping spots (no improved campsites for my dad). He would make us bologna and potato chip sandwiches on white bread! I used to love them and will still crave one when out driving with my husband looking for good places to shoot photos.

    p.s. I love your blog.
