Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, to all. How'd the weekend go? Did you enjoy it? Saturday night we went on a movie date and watched 'Room'. Have you seen it? The most amazing man in the world and I both read the book, which was really good, so we were eager to see the movie, which was also really good. It didn't stray far from the original story as is often the case. It's also playing 'The Fifth Wave' at the theater right now that we would have loved to watch since we've also read that book but it's a new release, so we decided to wait until the enthusiasm for it dies down.

Yesterday the highlight of my day was chatting with my younger daughter on Skype. She's continuing to do great at her university and in her new city. A lot of exciting projects coming up and a lot of fun adventures. She's also looking around for a permanent residence because she's considering staying there year round instead of moving back home for a few months in-between school years. It's going to be an interesting year for her.

Anyhow, let's get to the funny stuff, shall we?

Have a good one!

  1. I love the tag one; there's a lot of truth in that one :) Too cute with the stone one too! I haven't heard of Room, now I'm going to have to do some checking on it; sounds like a good book and movie!

    1. It is a good read; an emotional one. The story if from the perspective of a five-year-old child, something I hadn't read before.

  2. It's always good to start Monday morning off with a LOL! Thanks! We went and saw "The Revenant" this weekend. Moral of the story -- stay away from grizzly bears.

    1. Wow, that's a long time. Any reason for that? Do you prefer watching movies at home?

  5. Ha! The tags on clothing one is right on! I also like the parent/teacher share the blame night and the reason we carry knives in our purses! It would be interesting cutting cheesecake with my pocketknife... Good ones, Martha!

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed, Bethany. The one with the clothing tags made me laugh out loud. It's certainly been true in my case a few times :)

Seems you're prepared for that unexpected cheesecake. Not sure what I would do!

  9. I always have to pick a favorite. Being a retired teacher I like the share the blame or success cartoon.

  10. I found Room very disturbing (if it's the one I'm thinking of) which I suppose means it's very well written. But it's stuck in my head enough that I kind of wish I hadn't read it. I'd rather be happy.

    1. It is very well written. And disturbing. It's certainly not for everyone.

  11. My dog often does that. Cries to go out, cries to be let back in.

  14. We built a big fire in the wood stove, made oatmeal cookies, watched (sort of) football while reading and went to see The Bridge with Tom Hanks. Great weekend. Over way too soon.

  15. I read Room. It was pretty disturbing. I don't usually watch movies if I have read the book because I find it disappointing if it doesn't match the pictures in my head, or if they change it too much. The only movie that was perfect was the the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter). Love the cheesecake knife! -Jenn

    1. Room was actually very close to the book, which was nice. I also don't like when they make too many changes to the original story.

  17. That's very true. A few times already I wore my dark shirts inside out because of their lack of tabs
