Happy Monday, everyone! Here we are wrapping up another month. Can you believe it? Spring - my favourite season of the year - is just around the corner. The garden plants seem to think so, too, because the daffodils in our backyard are poking their little heads out, raring to go. I should be seeing a robin back there any day now. Yahoo!
Now, let's get to the funny stuff...
Have a good one!

Very Important Cat Jobs
My cat, Mocha...
Wow. I had no idea they worked so hard. They must be exhausted. It's no wonder they need so much sleep!
...and my cat, Nacho...
...both sleep the majority of the day away. So I've been scolding them lately about being lazy and expecting to be waited on hand and foot.
Well, let me tell you, they were rather offended by my "ingratitude". Because, they said, they have a lot of critically important jobs that us humans take for granted.

You're Probably Around My Age If...
...you ever played with these types of bricks (or owned/recognize them):
Or maybe you had these in the U.S:
And created stuff like this:
It might surprise some blog readers, especially the youn'uns, that Lego blocks were not always readily available. But no big deal. There were other choices when I was a kid.
My brothers and I played with these types of blocks for years and I can't tell you how many fond memories I have of that period in my life. Because of that, this very special toy will always have a soft spot in my heart.
Do you know/remember this toy?

Chuckles and Chortles
Happy Monday, everyone. I hope the weekend was good to you. Not much to share today as it's been a very quiet few days for us. Perhaps you have some news. Maybe something interesting is going on in your part of the world. If so, share away!
While you think about that, here's something to tickle the funny bone...
A great day to all!

Ask Me Anything
Once again, I'm telling you, my blogging pals, to go ahead and...
I introduced this last year and it turned out to be a lot of fun. Some very interesting inquiries were made, one of which led to a series of posts about how the most amazing man in the world and I met.
I had such a great time with this that it may turn out to be an annual event.
So fire away with any questions you may have for me. Silly, random, weird, serious, creepy, absurd...whatever comes to mind, just ask. I will answer them all, but I also reserve the right to betotally slightly elusive if it's much too personal. Also, unlike last year, there is no limit to how many questions you may ask. One, two, five, ten...it's your call. I will let this run till the end of the month and begin posting answers in March.
Ready, set, go...

Question Of The Day
I'm so grateful I don't have much of a sweet tooth, especially at this period in my life. My metabolism has gone on a very extended vacation since the menopausal years kicked in and all those treats just go straight to my hips and thighs.
However, there are two things I love LoVE LOVE:
Ice cream. Chocolate chip, heavenly hash, cookies and cream, butter pecan, cookie dough, vanilla and chocolate. Just to name a few flavours.
And cheesecake. New York style. None of that caramel, chocolate, fudge, lemon or lime type nonsense added in. Just regular, simple cheesecake with a fruit topping. Preferably strawberries or raspberries, but all fruit is welcome. Mmm...mmm...

You Know Your Kid Is In University When...
...your birthday card included in the flower delivery has this message in it:
BAHAHAHA! I laughed so hard when I saw that message. Really made my day.
Last week, the day after my birthday, my daughter sent me flowers:
This cute teddy bear:
And a birthday card that had that funny message in it.
Hey, free shipping is free shipping and worth waiting an extra day for.
The interesting life of a university student. And the entertaining life of mom of a university student!

Chuckles and Chortles
Happy Monday, everyone. Did you all have a nice weekend? For some Canadians the weekend is still going on because of Family Day, which is not a national statutory holiday and only celebrated in a few provinces in the country, one of them being Ontario where I live. In any case, some lucky folks are enjoying an extra day off.
I received some news from my university-attending daughter on Saturday. She signed her first lease for an apartment, which means she'll be staying year round in Ottawa while she studies. And earlier in the month she informed me that she had received a scholarship that she hadn't applied for from a Canadian media and broadcasting company (not sure if I should share the name, so I won't), which means that she is currently the most outstanding journalism student at her university. These are very exciting times for her and I'm brimming with pride!
Okay, so now that I've shared my happy news, let's laugh it up...
Have a good one!

Commenting On My Blog
So a few of you have mentioned that you're unable to leave comments on my blog because the commenting box doesn't appear below the posts.
I've spent a lot of time researching about this issue and there are many explanations for it. And I've also spent a lot of time searching for a solution and making suggested changes to the code behind my blog (I was a computer programmer for many years and am able to fool around with that kind of stuff). And nothing has worked so far.
So I am changing the style of commenting, which should solve the problem for many - hopefully all - of you. I prefer the embedded style commenting but will only reinstate it if I find a solution to this problem.
Update: So no. No no no... I don't want the other styles of commenting for my blog because I like to reply to each of you individually, so I'm reinstating the embedded blogging form and will write up a post soon to give you ways to get around this issue and be able to post a comment on my blog or any blog you encounter this. So stay tuned...
In addition, I stumble across this issue on some of your blogs and I will let you know if yours is one of them. I have found ways around it, so I am able to comment, but a lot of people won't and you may be missing opportunities to interact with them.

Taking Care Of Those Pearly Whites
Last week I had a dentist's appointment. I go regularly to keep these pearly whites in good shape, so I can have teeth to chew my food with in my old age. Like pizza. Can't go through life without being able to eat pizza.
In my younger years I didn't like going to the dentist but I don't mind anymore. My experiences at the dental office have been very pleasant in the past few years. The cleanings are quick and pain free, and I am in no doubt that brushing and flossing daily are major contributes to this. Especially the flossing.
There was a time that I didn't floss every day and those cleanings were much more difficult. "I'm too busy to floss. I don't have time" I would tell the dental hygienist. But that's just not true. It takes me no more than 20 seconds to floss my teeth. 20 seconds.
So I'm one of those people that doesn't lie about flossing. I actually do it. And it's made those dental appointments very easy to attend.
Do you mind going to the dentist?

Today I Celebrate Ten Glorious Years...
...of being smoke-free!
I bet you weren't expecting that, huh? And I bet some of you are really surprised that I was ever a smoker to being with. But I was. For many years.
There was a time when smoking was very popular, even encouraged. It was socially acceptable and people smoked everywhere. During my teen years you were more likely to take up smoking than not. And having spent the majority of my life (so far) in a province with the highest rate of smokers, your chances skyrocketed. So I foolishly joined the crowd, became addicted and ended up regretting it.
But ten years ago today, I decided I'd had enough. I kicked the smoking habit to the curb and have never looked back since. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.
Ten glorious smoke-free years. Yay, me!

Question Of The Day
I have a few times and most of the experiences weren't too bad. But there was that one time I drove through fog that was so thick you couldn't see more than a dashboard’s length in front of you. This was on a three-lane boulevard with many other cars. It was a very extraordinary and very frightening experience. I'm surprised my fingers didn't leave an imprint on the steering wheel from how hard I was gripping it.
How about you? Have you ever driven through fog?

Chuckles and Chortles
Happy new week, blogging pals. How is everyone? How was your weekend? And what's going on with you? Nothing new to report here. It's been fairly quiet. And dry. And mild. I don't know what happened to Old Man Winter this year; he hasn't made much of an appearance, which is fine by me.
As I type this my cat, Mocha, is sitting on my lap. She does this every morning right after I feed her. Jumps on my lap, snuggles up against me and purrs up a storm. I like to think that she's thanking me for taking care of her. And does my other cat, Nacho, do the same? Not a chance. No thank you. No nothing. I am here to serve her, after all, right?
Anyhow, enough blah, blah, blah...here's some funny stuff for you.
Have a good one!

Off The Mark Prediction

Fill In The Blank
...fire away a whole bunch of invasive questions.
Being asked an overly personal question once in awhile is not the end of the world, but some people cross that line regularly. The mouth filter is missing and the tact gene was never inherited.
It can be quite exasperating dealing with nosy individuals who don't respect boundaries, especially for someone who is very private. Like me. When I find myself in a situation like this, there are different ways I handle the unpleasant inquiries, but one of my favourites is by asking a question of my own:
"Why do you want to know that?"
This polite way of asking how it's any of their business is usually met with silence, followed by a nervous laugh, a clearing of the throat and an awkward answer. And a smile on my face.
How about you? What annoys you?

It’s The Little Things: Sunlight Through The Window
A room flooded by the sunshine pouring in through a window.
Don't you just love that? Especially during the winter? I sure do. And so does my cat.
