Commenting On My Blog

So a few of you have mentioned that you're unable to leave comments on my blog because the commenting box doesn't appear below the posts.

I've spent a lot of time researching about this issue and there are many explanations for it. And I've also spent a lot of time searching for a solution and making suggested changes to the code behind my blog (I was a computer programmer for many years and am able to fool around with that kind of stuff). And nothing has worked so far.

So I am changing the style of commenting, which should solve the problem for many - hopefully all - of you. I prefer the embedded style commenting but will only reinstate it if I find a solution to this problem.

Update: So no. No no no... I don't want the other styles of commenting for my blog because I like to reply to each of you individually, so I'm reinstating the embedded blogging form and will write up a post soon to give you ways to get around this issue and be able to post a comment on my blog or any blog you encounter this. So stay tuned...

In addition, I stumble across this issue on some of your blogs and I will let you know if yours is one of them. I have found ways around it, so I am able to comment, but a lot of people won't and you may be missing opportunities to interact with them.

Hours later and I've gotten nowhere with this problem!

    1. That's really good. I've run across this problem on other blogs. It's very annoying.

  2. I have no trouble commenting on your blog. I did notice that sometimes what can happen is the comment box goes off into a separate window so you may not notice it is still there waiting for your comment. So I always make sure to be aware of other windows that may have opened up. I do have a Windows computer most of the time.

    1. As you know, Christine, it's all in the programming! I notice some weird stuff too, sometimes.

  3. Yay, back to our normal abnormally fun times. I hate when I have to figure out how to leave a comment. It drives me bonkers.
    Be well, Martha.

  4. I have not had a problem with commenting on your blog, Martha. I have had problems with people not getting the email that lets them know I commented, but I think I fixed that, but have no idea how I fixed it, but did spend 6 hours trying to fix it :)

  5. Your blog has always been pretty easy to comment on, though there are several that I just cannot leave even a twinkle of a comment. Sad because I think so many really good posts seem to go unnoticed to the author when so many of us are touched, or excited, or inspired or pissed!

  8. All seems fine to me I have never had a problem yours is just at the end of each post whilst others have a pop up comment window the only blogs I cant comment on are Google+ blogs cause I refuse to switch my blog to google+ or my browser as it controls the blogs to much and yes Papa here is also a computer programmer / web site builder he used to build computers and program them for a hobbie as well he is my techy geek and helps me learn a lot about all the codes and what not . I hope who ever is having problems they figure it out cause as far as I see everyone that has commented here has not probs . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !

    1. It's nice to see that so many people are not having problems commenting. I've run across this problem on other blogs but I have figured out a way to get around the issue. I enjoy leaving comments on favourite blogs, so I don't want to miss that opportunity!

  9. I am in the same boat as the above followers.......no problem commenting. Word has it blogger dispensed with a number of followers on blogs because they didn't have blogger accounts. John Gray from Going Gently copy and pasted the decree from blogger. I lost a few followers but truthfully don't know who I lost. My bad!

If you find out anything let us know!

    1. This is the copy & paste from John's post!!!!

      is what Blogger says :
      Dear bloggers,
As we mentioned some weeks ago, starting this week, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. To follow a blog via Google Friend Connect now, readers will need a Google Account (the same they use for Gmail or YouTube). There will be no need for readers to be signed in, or to have a Google+ profile.
What does this mean for you and your blog? We’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count
What can you do now? You should encourage your users to re-follow your blog using a Google account. Another way to allow users to follow your blog is with the “Follow by Email” gadget, which requires you to set up Feedburner. By subscribing to your blog, readers will be notified via e-mail every time there is a new post.
We know how important followers are to all bloggers, but we believe this change will improve the experience for both you and your readers !!!!!!!

    1. It's all in the programming, which isn't always easy. Since people use so many different programs, computers and whatnot, it's hard to solve all the problems!

  11. Hey Martha,

I do believe that my comment is about to publish. Although, blogger does have plenty of issues at the best of times.

I'm outta' here, eh. I mean, it's like three in the morning!

    1. You are so right, Gary! Blogger does seems to have plenty of issues. But it's free to us, so I try not to complain. At least not too much :)

What the heck were you doing up at that time, eh? :)

    2. Hey Martha, part two,

Blogger has more issues than I do.

I had this uncontrollable urge to visit your blog before I actually did something weird like check my eyelids for cracks, eh! :)

    3. BAHAHAHA! You do make me smile :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Free of issues and cracked eyelids :)

  12. I don't have this problem on any blog--except I couldn't comment on my own for a short time with Google Chrome! I was able to comment on it with Firefox, and now I have no problems at all on Chrome anymore. Strange.

Anyway, I do have some bloggers who still say they're not able to comment on my blog, so will be looking forward to see if you find a solution!

    1. I experience that problem on your blog, Bethany. Your embedded comment box doesn't appear. What I do is hit my back button on my browser, which strangely makes it appear. Or I hit reply on someone else's comment, which also makes the comment box suddenly appear. Then I click on "Add comment", a link right below that box and the comment box appears on its one and that allows me to make my own, individual comment instead of adding a comment as if I'm replying to another. Ugh...sounds confusing, no? I'll have to put a post and explain to my readers what I mean. In any case, all that to say that I have found a way to leave a comment on your blog!
