Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week! How is everyone? Did you all have a nice weekend? I sure hope so. Ours was nice. We took care of some chores but we also took some time to kick back and relax indoors and out depending on the weather, which has been pretty wacky lately. One day it's warm and beautiful, the next day it's rainy and cold. You don't know whether to keep the flip flops by the door or the boots. Okay, I'm exaggerating. It's not that cold. Still. It's cold for the month of June.

You know what the most amazing man in the world and I watched last night? The Martian. We've been meaning to watch it for awhile but I wanted to finish reading the book first, which I did, yesterday evening. I really enjoyed the movie but I preferred the book. It's more detailed with a better story, as books usually are, and there is a lot more humour in it; one of the best parts of the story. Have you seen it? It's worth watching. But if you're a bookaholic like me, read the book first!

Anyhow, shall we get to the funny stuff? Okay, let's do it!

Have a great day!

  1. I love ALL of those!! Very funny picks. As for the Martian movie. I liked the movie more than I thought I would. When I saw the trailer, I thought maybe it was just too much to expect that it would keep viewers entertained with it's limited cast and story line. BUT it really did keep me interested.

    1. I wasn't sure about reading the book because I didn't think it would be my type. But a blogging pal highly recommended it and I thought "Meh, why not?" Well, I'm glad I did because it was such a good story! So naturelly, the movie was going to be seen.

    1. I'm glad I took the time to read the book because it includes a lot of what the main character is thinking. You can't capture that in the movie!

  7. Love the cat 'n dog one and also Bigfoot, LOL! And may I just say that the quotation in your header -- "when you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression" -- is absolutely right on! That fallacy of thought is committed by many who feel threatened by advances in civil/human rights for others.

    1. That is one of the best quotes I have ever run across, Debra, and that's why I've kept it up there for so long. Whenever there is change or we 'evolve' or we finally grant rights to an oppressed group, there are always people who will react as though something is being taken away from them. Because they have to share their privileges with those that did not previously have any. But as Nellie McClung said: “Never explain, never retract, never apologize. Just get the thing done and let them howl.” Because when it comes to a civil rights issue, there is no compromise. Equality for all.

  8. When I worked in produce departments, people would always shy away from the lone bananas. Ironically clumping them together to look full worked better than you'd imagine

    1. You are right, Adam. People seem to think there's something wrong with lone bananas. It's ridiculous, really!
