Evening Strolls

Do you like to walk? I love to walk. And the most amazing man in the world and I do a lot of that as often as we can. We have a few favourite routes that we take and - coincidentally - every single one ends up passing by a Tim Hortons (popular Canadian coffee shop). Do we stop and treat ourselves? Of course we do. He always gets a half coffee/half hot chocolate mix and - depending on the weather - I either get a cappuccino or an iced coffee. These days it's the cold drink for obvious reasons.

We walk for a very long time and I always take along my little point and shoot camera. I don't aim for award winning photography; I simply enjoy capturing interesting sights along the way and freezing moments. It's almost like keeping a journal but in images instead of words.

Yesterday evening we walked for a very long time and at one point it started to drizzle. There were hardly any clouds in the sky, so it didn't last long. But despite being short-lived, it left behind this beautiful sight:

It's been awhile since I saw a rainbow. What a wonderful surprise this was!

Do you enjoy walking?

  2. Such a pretty rainbow! I like the area you walked in last night :) I do like to walk, just have to get back into the habit of it on a more frequent basis and then wait until it cools down just a bit to get back into that habit :)

    1. When it's too hot, walking is much too difficult!

  3. I do love to walk. I walk 5 miles every weekday morning with a friend but I usually get a walk in from time to time with hubby as well. For my morning walk we start around 5:20 AM so we are usually ahead of the heat. I hardly ever take a camera because I am a lousy photographer but I have upon occasion. If we are walking somewhere new such as on a vacation trip, I like to get a few photos.

    1. That is great, Cheryl! And if I lived closer, I'd join you. I am a morning person and I love to walk and I'd love to go walking with you. Win-win-win!

    1. We enjoy both but lately we've been doing a lot of walking. A lot of that has to do with the fact that we have a lot to talk about now. Plans, changes coming up, etc, and walking is easier for that.

  5. I love to walk with my beloved Franklin. It will probably be September of even October before we can go walking.

    Love,

    1. I'm sure you're looking forward to that. Walking in the fall is a great time. A little cooler for us but still comfy.

  6. Love that rainbow! And doesn't EVERY path in Canada lead right past a Tim Horton's, LOL?

    1. It just wouldn't be Canada if every path didn't lead to a Tim Horton's!

  9. In the winter I walk most evenings. In the summer cycling takes the place of walking.

  10. I've had a very sore foot for a couple of months so I'm not walking for leisure/exercise and I miss it so much! I always took it for granted. Oh well, I know this is temporary.

  13. Walking is therapeutic and i use it to mull about things...
My parents made me walk because they refused to give me any kind of transport for safety reason.
I was ok with it :P

    1. I worked with a girl who came from New York City. She claimed she had never seen a rainbow before. I thought that was sad.

    2. That is very sad! You have to see it at some point in your life.

Our weather in June hasn't been too brilliant and an umbrella has been needed, I'm hoping for sunnier walks during July.

    All the best Jan
