And So It Begins...

Summer has come and gone, ladies and gentlemen. It is now time to enjoy the autumn season, which can be incredibly beautiful when the weather cooperates. The leaves haven't changed shades yet nor have they started to fall (well, maybe just a few here and there), but it won't be long before we are enjoying the most magnificent display of colour.

I love this time of year as long as it isn't rainy and cold. Some years it is that way and others it's an extension of summer. It is completely unpredictable from year to year; you just don't know what you're going to get. I'm hoping the weeks ahead are glorious, so I can snap some photographs.

Do you like this time of year?

  1. I do like fall. I like the cooler temperature, don't have to run the air conditioner as much and don't have to turn the heater on yet. I don't like losing the light at night so early though. Makes sometimes the evenings too long. Just amazed how quickly we got here though!

    1. The shorter days are not something I enjoy either about this time of year but if the weather is nice, I'll deal with that!

  3. I love fall... when it feels like fall. Last year fall was a bit too warm for me. I'm hoping we have more seasonal weather this year.

    1. Fall is wonderful when it's comfortably cool. The type of weather when you can stay outdoors for long periods without being hot or cold. That is the best!

  4. Much better than hot as crap summer or freeze to death winter

  5. My two favourite seasons are Spring and Autumn ... or as you call it the Fall.
Out today and the leaves are turning and some of the leaves are beginning to fall.

What is better than a lovely Autumn day with the sun shining and leaves crinkling under your feet.

    All the best Jan

    1. The sound of leaves under your feet is a sound that I love. It makes me feel like a kid again!

    1. Technically most of it isn't but we seem to associated with the fall season. I guess with school starting, it feels that way.

  7. Well it is spring here in Australia, but I've recently moved from a higher-altitude inland city (Canberra) where autumn was colourful and lovely and had lots of non-native deciduous trees and you really felt the change of seasons, to a temperate coastal city (Sydney) where my area at least is mostly native plants which don't change colour and I hardly noticed autumn at all. It is one of the few things I'll miss about Canberra. But the depths of winter were a lot nicer here!

    1. It sounds like both places offer something good. I love the autumn season but I'd be willing to compromise some of it for shorter, less intense winters!

  9. I like fall with all the colors. You say the weather is unpredictable from fall to fall. the colors are also unpredictable. Some years the colors are better than others.

  11. I'm usually a big fan of fall but this year I'm in survival mode and not feeling super excited about much-maybe next year I'll feel my "usual" festive fall buzz? As it is I'm a little "bah humbug" about the rains and the inconvenience of defogging my car in the morning!

Happy Fall *insert autumnal leaf emoji here*

  12. I love spring and fall. My problem is I'm still trying to catch up on the things I planned to do in the spring.

  14. Still stifling and no change of leaves here. I use to like it when it would cool off. Now, not so much.

    1. Our summer was horribly hot and humid this year and I'm so glad to see cooler weather. But I cannot stand winter, so I'm not looking forward to that.

  15. I love this time of year, Martha! I don't think there is going to be much of a color display in Victoria, because all the trees are suffering from the drought. The leaves are muddy-colored and dropping. :(

    1. I'm all caught up on your wonderful posts, Martha ~ and mortified I got so behind! I stopped commenting before I worked all the way back ~ I know you answer every comment, and I didn't want my time management problems to become yours! LOL After seeing the canals of Venice ~ there is no way I'd waterski in them, even if I could find a gondolier to tow me!

    3. P.S - I'm curious to see what kind of fall season we're going to have in terms of leaves changing colours. We had a lot of drought this year and it might not be as colourful. We shall see!

  16. I love the fall season as well. This year we haven't seen any fall like weather yet. Still really hot here. Hoping to see more fall-like behavior from Mother Nature.... soon. I love the colors when they finally make their appearance and can only imagine how pretty your photos will be when the landscapes finally cooperate.
