You're Probably Around My Age If...

...you know what 60s television show these sound effect images would pop up on.

Here's a dead giveaway small hint:

My two brothers and I were big fans of this show. We watched reruns because we were a little too young when it aired in 1966. And even though this was a very long time ago, I still remember this series very well. It's a little corny by today's standards but it was pretty cool back then. I started thinking about it a couple of days ago while watching the movie 'Rocky' for the umpteenth time. Burgess Meredith plays the character of Rocky's boxing trainer (Mickey Goldmill) in the film but I always remember him as 'The Penguin' in this TV show (bottom left hand image).

Do you remember this show? Did you watch it?

  1. Oh yes, I certainly remember it. It wasn't my favorite, but I used to watch it with my cousin.

    1. It used to be quite well known, so many of us got a glimpse of it.

  2. "To the Bat Cave, Robin." Loved the show, though I still want Robin to play a more powerful role.

  5. Yes I do remember this show and watched it. I remember watching it years later with the kids and it sounded so goofy then, but loved it as a kid.

    1. It's pretty outdated now but when we were kids it wasn't goofy at all. It was a fun show.

  7. Man, I'm old enough to have watched it in 1966. I adored Batman and Robin and all their crazy villains.

  8. We introduced it to our own kids! I never watched it as a kid. Maybe it didn't come on one of our four channels! -Jenn

    1. That's quite possible, Jenn. I'm not sure how far and wide it aired.

  10. We didn't have cable until I was much older so I missed a lot of TV. All we has was an arial that got two channels on a clear and sunny day.

    1. We didn't have cable either. This show played on the two channels we got.

    2. Well, I got ripped off then! Who can I complain to? I think we had CBC and KVOS which had cartoons on Saturday. CBC was for The Friendly Giant, Mr. Dressup and Sesame Street.

    3. You did get ripped off! LOL... Well, we had a TV station in the area I lived and I guess that made a difference.

  11. I remember reruns and the old movie. Julie Newmar is still the hottest incarnation of Catmwoman.

The movie versions of the character were pathetic to a character who was known to be able to seduce Batman himself. Michelle Pfeiffer's costume was just "ugh" and Halle Berry's wasn't much better. Anne Hathaway's was much better still not close to the original live action one.

    1. A lot of different women have portrayed that role. Julie Newmar is definitely a favourite for me!

  12. My brother and I watched it after school not because we thought it was well done but more that it was campy and odd. Your use of the word "corny" really is spot on.
